The Acklay is a monster that appears in Star Wars - Episode II: Attack Of The Clones. It is a huge six-legged crustacean, standing over three metres tall. According to the Star Wars Expanded Universe, Acklays are native to the planet Vendaxa and are often imported to other planets to participate in gladiatorial combat. One such creature appeared in the Petranaki Arena on Geonosis along with a nexu and reek. The Geonosians used the beasts to carry out the executions of Anakin Skywalker, Padme Amidala and Obi-Wan Kenobi. Obi-Wan primarily fought the Acklay himself, using all his concentration and guile to outmaneuver the creature, and managed to fool the monster into breaking the chains that bound him, making it all the more easy to survive the encounter. When Jedi reinforcements arrived in the arena, Obi-Wan was handed a new lightsaber which he used to kill the Acklay.
