Addison Corday is a supporting character in the horror movie Saw II. She was among a group of people who had been kidnapped by the Jigsaw Killer and forced to participate in one of his sinister games. She was portrayed by Emmanuelle Vaugier.
History[]
Addison was a young woman who worked as a prostitute, selling her body for money on the streets. At one point, she was arrested by Detective Eric Matthews for a crime she hadn't committed; Matthews had faked the evidence for one of his cases and this resulted in Addison being sent to prison for an uncertain amount of time. Not long after her release from prison, she went back to prostitution, encountering civil engineer John Kramer outside of the Homeward Bound Clinic one night and offering her services, which John declined.
Over a year after her release from prison, Addison was abducted by Jigsaw and locked inside a run-down house along with seven other victims: Jonas Singer, Xavier Chavez, Gus Colyard, Obi Tate, Laura Hunter, Amanda Young and Daniel Matthews. Jigsaw had chosen Addison based on her connection with Eric Matthews and also for offering her services to him. After recovering from the sedatives used to knock them out, the group found themselves inside a locked room with a single door and a safe inside. Amanda - who was secretly an apprentice of Jigsaw's - soon discovered a tape recorder hidden in the wall along with a key. The tape informed them that the house was filled with nerve gas which would kill them all within two hours, giving them that long to find a way out. It also warned that the key found with the recorder shouldn't be used on any of the doors inside the house. Xavier, however, ignored this warning and used the key on the door leading out of the room. While the key did unlock the door, it also triggered the trap set up on the other side: a revolver that fired a round through the peephole and into the eye of Gus Colyard, killing him instantly.
After Daniel covered Gus' body with his jacket, the group left the safe room, wary of the instructions left on Jigsaw's tape, which mentioned that they each shared a connection and that the clue to that connection would be marked with an 'X'. Jigsaw had also mentioned that there were syringes filled with an antidote to the nerve gas that were hidden throughout the house. The next room the group entered contained a furnace where two syringes had been placed inside. An envelope in the room contained a message for Obi Tate, stating how he had helped Jigsaw with the group's kidnapping and that one of the antidotes in the furnace was for him if he could redeem himself by entering the furnace to retrieve them. Obi agreed to crawl into the furnace and retrieve the syringes, but when he removed them from the interior wall, he triggered the trap, sealing the doors and activating the furnace. Using the nailed baseball bat he had found in the hall, Xavier smashed the window of the door at the end of the furnace. Obi tried to crawl out, but got stuck and the lower half of his body was engulfed in flames. Obi died painfully and the syringes were both destroyed.
Shortly after Obi's death, the surviving subjects split up with Addison, Jonas and Xavier heading upstairs. Upon searching the upper level, Addison and the others found a door without a lock, but couldn't open it. Jonas went downstairs and returned with the rest of the group moments later. When they came back, Addison still tried to open the door but remarked that it was stuck. Xavier angrily shoved her away and attempted to open it by brute force, to which Amanda responded that the room was most likely a trap. Therefore, Jonas pressed himself against the wall to cover himself in case she was right. Xavier sarcastically told her that the whole house was a trap and went on until he finally managed to open the door. Thereby, a metal pin was pulled out of a timer connected to another door. An audiotape left for Xavier by Jigsaw informed him that there was another antidote behind the second door. However, it would be permanently locked if he didn't find the key in time. Moments later, Daniel discovered a large hole, filled with thousands of used syringes, hidden under a bed. According to Jigsaw, the key to the door was somewhere in the pit.
Unwilling to search the pit himself, Xavier demanded that one of the others look for the key among the thousands of syringes. When no one volunteered, Xavier angrily grabbed Amanda and shoved her into the pit. As the needles pierced her skin, Amanda sifted through the pit, enduring terrible pain until she managed to find the key. Xavier grabbed the key from Amanda and used it on the door, but he was too little too late as the timer had run out just before the door unlocked. An electronic deadbolt sealed the door shut, making it impossible for the group to open. Enraged, Xavier lashed out at the others before deciding to continue investigating the house by himself.
Shortly afterward, Amanda, Daniel, Addison and Laura continued to look for more of the antidote. During this time, Laura collapsed as she had been weakened by the nerve gas. When Amanda tried to comfort her, Addison told them they couldn't stay as they didn't have much time left. Seconds later, Laura noticed a picture on the wall, which had large scratches on it that were shaped like an "X." She immediately remembered Jigsaw's first tape and realized that this was the clue to their connection. Upon investigating the picture, Addison found a photo attached to its backside, which showed Daniel and his father, Eric. Thereby, they realized that Daniel's father was the cop who arrested all of them by faking evidence. Following this revelation, Laura suffered from a seizure and died in Amanda's arms. Laura's death and the truth about their connection caused Addison and Amanda to leave Daniel. As they went away, Xavier shouted for them and claimed he had found a way out.
Death[]
After finding out about their connection, Addison decided to look for the antidote on her own. Severely weakened by the gas, she eventually stumbled into a room with a large plexiglass box suspended from the ceiling by four chains. A syringe with the antidote was glued to the bottom of the box. She found another envelope with a mini-cassette but threw it away as she didn't have the recorder with her. Rather than trying to find the recorder, Addison tried to obtain the antidote, failing to check the holes of the box before putting her hands inside.
Putting a hand in one of the two holes on the underside of the box, Addison tried to grab the antidote. However, she only grasped the top part of the syringe and pulled it apart, spilling the antidote. Panicking, she placed her other hand through the second hole to try and retrieve the antidote, but it was then that she realized that her hands were now trapped. Razor-sharp blades had been covering the holes and now prevented Addison from removing her hands. In her terrified state, she tried to wriggle her hands free, but only succeeded in cutting her wrists against the blades. Addison called out for help and soon Xavier entered the room, but he did nothing to help her. Having discovered that each of the subjects had numbers written on the backs of their necks that provided the combination to the safe downstairs, Xavier checked Addison's number and then left her to die.
Addison is last seen screaming at Xavier to come back and help her. Her death isn't shown on-screen, but with her wrists cut, her death was a certainty as she would have bled out within minutes.
