Agents of shield 4

This article lists the various background character deaths that occur in the fourth season of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D..

4.01: The Ghost[]

  • A group of criminals known as the Aryan Brotherhood are pursued by a black 1969 Dodge Charger. Even after being hit with a rocket, the mysterious car keeps coming and soon catches up to the crooks' vehicle, igniting the puddle of gasoline that has dripped out from beneath them. Suddenly finding themselves surrounded by flames, the thugs are all picked off one by one by the Ghost Rider. Two thugs are pulled out of sight and the group's leader suddenly finds his face being spattered with blood. He is then suddenly dragged out of his car and placed in the Hell Charger's boot before it drives off.
  • Daisy (now going by the alias Quake) breaks into the hospital ward where the lone survivor of the Ghost Rider's attack is being kept. The wounded thug, who doesn't appear to have healed at all, willingly tells Quake about the job he and his friends were on and begs her to save his friend that the Rider took away. He also reveals that the Rider had previously wounded him, indicating a still-bleeding spot beneath the bandage on his waist. The thug states that when the Rider burns you, he wounds your very soul, preventing you from healing. He then collapses to the floor in front of Quake, bleeding to death.
  • Coulson and Mack track down a stolen truck and investigate the trailer. Inside, they find two corpses, one of them being identified as Zhang Wei, a member of the Chinatown Crew criminal gang. Apparently, Wei and the other man inside the trailer had attempted to tear each other apart with their bare hands.
  • The Aryan member the Ghost Rider had previously captured is killed after Robbie Reyes returns to his garage after finding that no buyer had come to collect the Brotherhood's cargo. Seeing no reason to keep the thug alive, Robbie gets in his car and drives it straight into his chained-up captive.
  • Chen opens the box that his henchmen delivered, believing that there is some sort of weapon inside. What emerges is the ghost of Lucy Bauer, who corrupts Chen's mind and causes him to hallucinate and go berserk. In his manic state, Chen brandishes his Uzi and guns down the two henchmen who were handling the box.
  • While fighting Reyes, Daisy makes mention of two of Ghost Rider's previous victims. One was a detective, but Reyes claims that the detective was corrupt and a murderer. The other was a teacher, whom Reyes claims was a paedophile.

4.03: Uprising[]

  • Yo-Yo is attending a party in Miami when a blackout envelops the entire city. The power outage is not restricted to buildings either, as Yo-Yo and the other partygoers witness a helicopter plummet out of the sky and crash into a nearby building. Two people were aboard the helicopter, as is confirmed in the episode "Lockup".
  • In Los Angeles, Robbie and Daisy are filling up at a gas station when they overhear a radio broadcast from a nearby car. It is the news reporting on another blackout occurring in London, carried out by the so-called Inhuman Resistance who blacked out Miami just an hour before. Seconds after the broadcast, LA blacks out too.
  • While travelling aboard Zephyr One, Coulson lists off the cities hit by blackouts. Moscow is added to the list, though there is yet no estimate on fatalities that have occurred as a result of the blackouts.
  • In the final scene of the episode, Ellen Nadeer receives a phone call informing her that seventeen Inhumans were killed by the Watchdogs during the international blackout crisis.

4.04: Let Me Stand Next to Your Fire[]

  • Ghost Rider and JT James fight each other inside a warehouse full of fireworks. Their flame powers end up setting off the fireworks inside, causing an explosion that destroys the warehouse. Both Robbie and James survive, but there were six Watchdogs inside that Coulson and Mack had previously knocked out with ICERs.

4.05: Lockup[]

  • Vincent - One of Lucy Bauer's colleagues (portrayed by Usman Ally) who was also turned into a "ghost" along with her. He attacks Robbie and Mack when they come to South Ridge Penitentiary to find Eli Morrow. Mack tries shooting Vincent, but this has no effect on him. However, Robbie's powers as the Ghost Rider do affect him; he tears through Vincent with a hellfire-wrapped chain and destroys him.
  • Hugo - One of Lucy Bauer's colleagues, portrayed by Ward Roberts. He passes through Mack and infects him and Mack tries to fight back with his shotgun-axe. Hugo is unaffected by the attack, but then Robbie walks up behind him and incinerates him with hellfire.

4.06: The Good Samaritan[]

  • Coulson and May arrive at Momentum where they find two S.H.I.E.L.D. agents who were guarding the facility have been killed by Bauer and Morrow.

4.07: Deals With Our Devils[]

  • Four S.H.I.E.L.D. agents attempt to stop Eli as he makes his way out of the Roxxon facility. However, having gained the power to create matter from nothing, Eli uses his new ability to kill the agents, causing long shards of carbon to erupt from their bodies.
  • Possessed by the Spirit of Vengeance, Mack rides into the Chinatown Crew's hideout and shoots two thugs on the way in.
  • Daisy drives into the Chinatown Crew hideout in Robbie's Charger. After beating up several thugs, she grabs a gun from one of them and shoots a thug she had knocked down with the Charger.

4.08: The Laws of Inferno Dynamics[]

  • A Chinatown thug expresses misgivings about Eli's plans and threatens to walk out unless paid. With his power, Eli conjures a cluster of diamonds within the thug's innards, which he starts vomiting up, ultimately suffocating as they fill his lungs.
  • As a battle erupts between S.H.I.E.L.D. and Eli's minions, Mack charges in with his shotgun-axe, shooting one goon and axing another in the chest.
  • In the midst of the battle, Yo-Yo runs in at super-speed and adjusts the fight in her friends' favour. She takes Mack's shotgun-axe out of the chest of the thug he attacked and adjusts it so that he is pointing it at another attacking thug. She also takes a gun from a thug about to shoot Coulson and puts it in Coulson's hand. When Yo-Yo snaps back and the fight resumes at normal pace, Mack shoots the third thug attacking him and Coulson shoots the thug whose gun he is now holding before whipping around to shoot another thug coming at him from behind.
  • One of Eli's goons enters the room where Dr. Radcliffe, Aida, Quake and Fitz-Simmons are setting up an inter-dimensional gate. The thug draws his gun and shoots Aida when she steps between him and Fitz-Simmons. After Aida falls to the floor, Fitz and Simmons draw their guns and shoot the thug dead.
  • Nathanson - A S.H.I.E.L.D. scientist portrayed by Blaise Miller. Director Mace sends him to Dr. Radcliffe's residence to obtain all of his research on Aida. While sorting through Radcliffe's files, Nathanson discovers a door left ajar and investigates. Inside, he finds Agent May lying bloodied and unconscious. Aida then appears behind Nathanson and grabs him by the neck, apologizing before snapping his neck and killing him instantly.

4.09: Broken Promises[]

  • Vijay Nadeer experiences a flashback of the day his mother died. On the day the Chitauri attacked New York, Sunjina Nadeer was celebrating her birthday when an explosion occurred, engulfing her and destroying her home.
  • As Aida is about to walk out of the Playground with the Darkhold in hand, the door behind her opens and Mack decapitates her with his shotgun-axe. This is, of course, not the end for Aida as Dr. Radcliffe had built a copy of her prior to the original's destruction.

4.10: The Patriot[]

  • In Sunbury, Pennsylvania, during a ceremony publicly acknowledging Quake's recent heroics, a Watchdog sniper attempts to assassinate Director Mace. When Quake intercepts the sniper on the rooftop, the body of a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent who was supposed to be providing rooftop security can be seen.
  • After Mace's Quinjet is brought down by a bomb planted by the Watchdogs, it crashes into Freyer National Park. McCafferty, the Quinjet's pilot, does not survive the crash as he becomes impaled by a tree limb that penetrates the cockpit canopy.
  • When Coulson, Mack and Mace take cover inside a ranger station, a gun battle breaks out between them and the mercenaries sent to kill them. Three of the mercenaries are shot dead shortly after Mack blows up one of their trucks.

4.12: Hot Potato Soup[]

  • Aboard Anton Ivanov's submarine, Dr. Radcliffe discovers the location of the Darkhold after using a Framework headset to access Billy Koenig's memories. Unconvinced of the device's reliability, Ivanov decides to torture Billy to see if he gives information that matches Radcliffe's. He tells his guards to remove Radcliffe and Aida from the room, but Aida responds by killing both goons when they lay hands on her. She snaps the neck of the first and uses her fist to impale the second through the stomach.
  • Near the end of the episode, S.H.I.E.L.D. incinerate the severed Aida head and the Life-Model Decoy of Dr. Radcliffe.

4.13: BOOM[]

  • At Senator Nadeer's office in the Capitol Building, Shockley shatters a Terrigen Crystal, wondering if Nadeer could potentially be an Inhuman. In an ironic twist, it turns out that Shockley himself is the Inhuman as he undergoes Terrigenesis. Just as Nadeer is mocking Shockley, he emerges from his cocoon in an explosive fashion, having gained the ability to self-detonate. The explosion kills Nadeer and the three bodyguards in the room. Shockley survives as he regenerates following the explosion.
  • After exploding in Zephyr One's jettisoned containment module, Shockley reforms in the middle of a desert, completely naked. A car pulls up on the nearby road and Shockley asks for a ride. When the driver asks what happened to his clothes, Shockley kills the man and takes his clothes and his car. The driver's murder isn't shown on-screen.
  • After arriving at a motel cafe, Shockley phones the Superior, confessing what has happened to him and promising that he can still be of use to the Watchdogs. After the conversation, he warns the cafe owner to run as he overloads once more, exploding and destroying the motel. It is unknown if anyone else was at the motel at the time, though when Shockley next appears, he is wearing the cafe owner's clothes, implying that he murdered him after blowing up the building.

4.14: The Man Behind the Shield[]

  • At the abandoned Burkov Mining Facility in Russia, Coulson and his team discover three skeletons belonging to SVR soldiers. These soldiers had been killed years ago, executed for failing to stop Coulson and May from taking an 0-8-4.
  • In Ivanov's hideout, Mack finds the cell where Mace is being held. Seeing the Director being beaten to death by Ivanov's thugs, he uses his shotgun-axe to blast the lock on the door before storming in. He shoots and kills one thug, then knocks out three others with help from Coulson.

4.15: Self Control[]

  • The LMDs of Mace and Coulson discover the body of the Fitz LMD in the Playground's workshop. Three S.H.I.E.L.D. agents are with them, unaware that Fitz is an android until one of them takes a closer look and finds the LMD's metallic sub-structure beneath its neck wound. Realizing that the base has been infiltrated, the agents try to send out an alert, but the Coulson LMD draws his gun and shoots two of them. The third is thrown against a wall by Mace, then Coulson bashes his head in.

Note: All extra deaths in this episode are of simulated characters within the virtual world of the Framework.

  • Coulson and Mace flag down a HYDRA prison bus after staging a car crash. When one soldier exits the bus, Mace leaps out from nowhere and beats him to the ground. Coulson then shoots the driver and Mace throws another soldier out of the bus.
  • Mace and Coulson board the prison bus to find that the only passengers are all in body bags.
  • After Coulson drives a bus into a HYDRA enlightenment center, a guard boards and examines the two body bags in the back. He opens one of them, revealing Mace, who is still alive and grabs the guard's neck, strangling him.
  • Upon Madame Hydra's command, a Quinjet fires on the enlightenment center's quarantine building. It is unclear how many "deaths" resulted from the attack.

4.19: All the Madame's Men[]

Note: All extra deaths in this episode are of simulated characters within the virtual world of the Framework.

  • After Daisy emerges from her Terrigenesis husk, she and May attempt to fight their way out of the Triskelion. As HYDRA guards shoot at them, Daisy grabs a nearby office agent and uses him as a shield against the soldiers' bullets. She then fires back with her own weapon, killing one of the soldiers.
  • May climbs over the office cubicle walls as she shoots three HYDRA agents dead.
  • May and Daisy arrive at a Resistance drop point, but the doorman won't let them inside. Soon, a HYDRA patrol car arrives and opens fire, striking down the doorman.
  • A HYDRA soldier wielding a grenade launcher fires a shell towards Daisy and May. Daisy projects a shockwave that propels the grenade round back at the patrol car, smashing through the windscreen and then exploding, killing the four soldiers inside.
  • As two HYDRA agents enter the building where May and Daisy are hiding, May jumps down from an overhead pipe and kills one agent by snapping his neck. The second agent is beaten to the ground.
  • A third HYDRA agent appears in front of May and Daisy, SMG raised, but is suddenly blindsided by Mack and beaten to the floor.

4.20: Farewell, Cruel World![]

Note: All extra deaths in this episode are of simulated characters within the virtual world of the Framework.

  • Following the Resistance broadcast, HYDRA instigates a crackdown, sending out soldiers to brutalize suspected Resistance sympathizers. Daisy and the other Resistance members watch the broadcast at S.H.I.E.L.D. HQ, seeing civilians being beaten and killed by HYDRA agents.
  • As the S.H.I.E.L.D. team discover that the backdoor out of the Framework is within a smelting pool in a steel mill, they are attacked by HYDRA agents.
    • May shoots at a HYDRA grunt standing by a pillar.
    • Daisy blasts two HYDRA grunts near the smelting pool with a shockwave.
    • As Coulson is about to leap into the backdoor, three more HYDRA agents arrive and shoot him, leaving him lying bleeding on the walkway. May and Mack break cover and shoot the three soldiers dead.
  • As Fitz holds Simmons at gunpoint, the HYDRA soldier who was watching Dr. Radcliffe watches them. Radcliffe takes the opportunity to grab the soldier's sidearm from its holster and shoot him.

4.21: The Return[]

  • Shortly after waking up in the real world, Coulson and May are confronted by Ivanov, who has become an android since their last encounter with him. When Ivanov holds a knife to his throat, Coulson activates the energy shield in his cybernetic hand. The shield cuts through Ivanov's head, removing his face. However, there are now multiple Ivanov androids aboard the oil platform, all being controlled by the real Ivanov's disembodied head.
  • The crew aboard the Zephyr One scramble to try and bring the weapons system back online as a fighter jet takes shots at them. After some struggle to connect a pair of cables, power is restored and Piper launches a missile that destroys the attacking jet.
  • Back at the oil rig, Coulson and May are busy fighting two more Ivanov duplicates. Coulson notices his opponent standing in a puddle of water and so he rips an electrical cable out of the wall and drops it into the puddle, resulting in the Ivanov clone being electrocuted.
  • May viciously beats the Ivanov android attacking her with a hammer, managing to sever its arm before knocking it to the floor.
  • At the same time General Talbot's men storm the ruined Playground, Aida goes insane due to emotional overload. With the Inhuman powers afforded to her new organic body, she breaks out of the containment room. Then, as Fitz and Piper are being held at gunpoint by Talbot's soldiers, Aida teleports behind one of them and takes his sidearm, shooting him through the neck.
  • Talbot receives a radio transmission from one of the soldiers in the basement, which is cut off as Aida murders him.
  • One last soldier is escorting Fitz through a corridor when Aida teleports behind him and breaks his neck in a maniacal rage.
  • After returning to Ivanov's submarine, Aida appears to enjoy a passionate moment with one of the Russian's androids. What begins as sexuality soon turns to deranged violence as Aida slams the android's head against the deck several times until its skull breaks.

4.22: World's End[]

  • When Yo-Yo enters the Framework to try and bring Mack out, she awakens in the Triskelion, strapped to an overturned guerney with a HYDRA agent about to shoot her. The agent is suddenly shot in the back by none other than Dr. Radcliffe.
  • As Aida and Ivanov discuss their plan to use the Darkhold to destroy the world, the Ghost Rider arrives at the warehouse and fights against Aida's android minions. He throws one of them against a support girder and uses his hellfire chain to impale another through the head. The thrown LMD is later seen with his head severed when Quake meets Robbie at the warehouse where the fight took place.
  • At a meeting of the International Intelligence Inquiry, an LMD of Daisy storms in, shooting two guards before barging into the meeting room and shooting General Talbot in the head. The General survives this attack, however.
  • Daisy confronts Aida, who is joined by an LMD of Daisy herself. Suddenly, the LMD bursts into flames as Robbie attacks from behind with his hellfire chain, reducing the android to ash.
  • Three more of Aida's LMD minions attack Daisy and Robbie. As one of them shoots at her, Daisy uses a metal table to shield herself from the bullets. She then beats the android to the floor and uses the table to bisect it.
  • After pinning an LMD to the floor, Robbie kills it by taking a power drill to its eye.
  • Daisy throws the third LMD towards Ghost Rider, who wraps his chain around the android in midair before slamming it to the ground.
  • Another copy of Ivanov enters the room where Daisy and Robbie have just destroyed Aida's minions. After claiming that he is unstoppable, the Ivanov duplicate is destroyed when Ghost Rider tears it apart with his chain.
  • Aida arrives in the Playground generator room and grabs Simmons, threatening to kill her in front of Fitz. She takes a screwdriver and thrusts it through Jemma's chest while Fitz tries to reason with her, but it proves futile. Aida then zaps Jemma with an electrokinetic blast, seemingly killing her before she teleports away to find the Darkhold. As it turns out, however, the Simmons Aida had killed was just another LMD that Fitz used to fool her.
