This article lists the various background character deaths that occur in the fifth season of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D..
5.01: Orientation - Part 1[]
- Coulson finds himself in what seems to be a space station frozen in time. When time resumes, a man gets blown out into space through a hole in the wall. Coulson survives by finding something to hold on to just before time resumes and the hull breach is sealed a second later.
- As Virgil's co-worker argues with him, the man is suddenly pulled through a doorway by an unseen creature, never to be seen again. When Coulson asks, Virgil identifies the unseen monster as a Vrellnexian.
- When Yo-Yo appears in a room on the space station, she is attacked by Simmons, who is wearing a gas mask. The two stop fighting before either are seriously hurt and Yo-Yo asks about the gas mask. Simmons claims that she didn't know if the air was safe to breathe, indicating a heap of dead bodies on the floor. Now knowing that the air isn't an issue, Simmons examines the corpses and finds that they had all been drained of their bodily fluids.
- Melinda May materializes in another part of the station. In this room is a corpse, though it is unclear what killed him.
- A Vrellnexian pursues Coulson, Yo-Yo, Mack and Simmons through a corridor. The group find themselves at a dead-end with no way out, but just as the alien creature pounces, it suddenly explodes into a shower of viscera. The group are stunned to see Daisy before them, who had killed the creature with her shockwave power.
- May witnesses a mysterious masked man in another room, cutting strange devices off of two corpses.
- While Mack and Yo-Yo are being tortured by two Kree in a cold-storage area, Daisy breaks in and frees Mack. In the ensuing fight, Mack kills one of the Kree using his own battle-axe and Quake kills the other by knocking him to the floor before causing an icicle to fall into his chest.
- Simmons and May look out through the viewport of their hijacked trawler at the debris field surrounding the station. The largest portion of debris is an entire planetary hemisphere, which Simmons and May recognise. They reach the conclusion that they have travelled into a future where Earth has been destroyed, with the debris field being all that remains of it.
5.02: Orientation - Part 2[]
- After the servant Reese is wounded by a man wielding a knife, Sinara executes the fleeing perpetrator with two remote-controlled flying spheres, moving them at such high velocity that they smash straight through the victim's head.

- One worker kills another by striking them over the head with a metal container.
- A woman strangles a male worker to death.
5.03: A Life Spent[]
- Simmons helps an Inhuman girl called Abby learn to control her power of density shifting. Later, Abby is forced to fight a gladiator to demonstrate her abilities to a potential buyer. At first, the gladiator brutalises Abby, who is too frightened to use her power. After recalling Simmons' words of encouragement, she manages to shift her body's density so that she becomes as dense as lead. When the gladiator strikes her, he breaks his arm. Abby then retaliates by becoming intangible and thrusting her arm into the gladiator's chest. Her density shifts back to normal while her arm is inside the gladiator's chest, impaling and killing him.
5.04: A Life Earned[]
- Coulson, May and Deke are attacked by two Kree guards in a lab on Level 35 of the Lighthouse. In the ensuing fight, May kills the first Kree after wresting his battle-axe from him and bludgeoning him with it. The second Kree is kicked through a glass panel into a cabinet.
5.05: Rewind[]

- While Fitz is working to remove Simmons' hearing-cancelling implant, a Kree guard walks in. Daisy attacks the guard and manages to strangle him to death.
- On the ruined surface of the Earth, May is almost attacked by a Vrellnexian. Luckily, Enoch appears and stabs the creature, sending it scuttling away to die. Enoch claims to have eliminated a total of three Vrellnexians whilst trying to find May.
- While searching for Quake, Maston-Dar stops two human servants in a corridor. Pulling a blade, he grabs the male servant and holds the weapon to his throat, asking where "The Destroyer" has gone. When the servant states that he doesn't know, Maston-Dar slashes his throat, spraying his blood across the wall.
- Flint supposedly decides to turn himself in and enters the Exchange where he meets the Kree Vicar (played by Isaac C. Singleton Jr.) who presided over his Terrigenesis ceremony. In a false show of obedience, Flint uses his geokinetic power to manipulate a series of pebbles taken from his pocket, forming them into a sharp projectile that he then launches through the Vicar's eye socket, killing him instantly.
5.08: The Last Day[]
- As Mack, Yo-Yo and Flint gather the weapons and equipment Fitz left for them on Level 3 of the Lighthouse, they hear screaming coming from an open elevator door, realizing that the Kree have released the Vrellnexians onto Level 10. When they go down to investigate, they enter a corridor littered with mangled corpses.
- Yo-Yo, Mack and Flint find a woman being attacked by a Vrellnexian. After Flint yells to get the creature's attention, Mack and Yo-Yo shoot it to pieces. The creature barely survives the shooting, but Mack finishes the job by cutting its head off with his shotgun-axe.

However, Kree biology is more complex than human biology and the doctor reminds Kasius that dead Kree cannot be resurrected. Enraged by the doctor's answer, Kasius raises a revolver and shoots the doctor through the head.
- Three Kree guardsmen are leading several Inhuman slaves down a corridor when Coulson, May, Daisy and Deke ambush them. One guard is beaten down and the other two are shot, though one is shot with an ICER rather than live ammunition.
- As Enoch is working on the device that will activate the Monolith, the silhouette of a Kree guard appears on the other side of the glass door. Enoch walks up to the door and presses his gun against the glass before shooting the guard dead.
- Three Kree guardsmen enter the room where Simmons, Fitz, Mack and Flint are located. When they enter, Fitz activates a booby-trap he rigged up near the door: a steel wire mechanism that slices through the Kree's necks, decapitating them.
- As the captain of the Kree Watch is giving orders to his remaining men, one of them points out a figure floating outside the window. That figure is Flint, who uses his geokinesis to manipulate several large fragments of free-floating debris, launching them towards the window. The rocks smash through, resulting in the five Kree being blown out into space.

Fitz later explains that the Kree was a manifestation created from energy seeping through a rift in space-time caused by the destruction of three Monoliths in the previous episode.
- While Yo-Yo is recovering from having her arms cut off, Simmons enters the infirmary and tries to smother her with a pillow. Suddenly, Mack enters and strikes Simmons across the face, which falls off, revealing the mechanical endoskeleton of a Life-Model Decoy. Mack then shoots the LMD repeatedly, which then vanishes, revealing itself to be another fear manifestation from the rift.
- When Coulson heads down into the basement on a mission to seal the rift, he encounters a manifestation of Mike Peterson who tries to convince him that everything he's done since his resurrection has all been a dream. The manifestation tries to talk Coulson into walking into the rift, but Coulson refuses. Simmons then draws a gun and shoots the astronaut through its visor, causing it to vanish.
- Fitz runs into the medical bay to find a disabled Sleeper Mech lying in the doorway. The robot had been reactivated by Fitz, whose personality has shifted to that of his evil persona from the Framework, and sent to attack Yo-Yo. Mack managed to shoot the mech in the head, though ended up taking a bullet to the leg in the process.
- After Fitz removes the inhibitor that cancels out Daisy's powers, Daisy uses her power to compress the Gravitonium and insert it into the Kree Orb. With their work done, the Sleeper Mech that was holding Simmons and Deke at gunpoint shuts down.
5.15: Rise and Shine[]
- In a flashback to General Hale's days at the HYDRA Preparatory Academy, a young Hale kills her pet dog as part of her final test before graduation. The killing isn't shown; the only clues that it happened at all is Hale waking up the next day and looking at her dog's collar and empty bed.
- Fischer - An Air Force general and HYDRA operative portrayed by Rocky McMurray. Two years prior, following the capture of Gideon Malick, his identity as a sleeper agent was discovered by S.H.I.E.L.D.. - Whilst Yo-Yo, Piper and Davis are holding off Remorath outside the lab where the Gravitonium infusion machine is being stored, three more of the aliens teleport in behind them. They enter the lab, but by this point Talbot has already used the machine and infused his body with Gravitonium, gaining gravity manipulation powers. He makes short work of the Remorath, though the details are obscured as the camera only shows the doorway. Yo-Yo and the others turn around to see the doors fly off their hinges and one Remorath attempt to crawl away, only to be dragged back into the lab. Suddenly, a spray of black alien blood paints the wall.

- Back aboard the Remorath ship, Deke and May confront two soldiers. Deke kills one of the aliens by strangling him with his belt while May stabs the other with a blade.
- When Coulson and Quake return to Zephyr One, they beat up the three Remorath attacking Agent Davis. It is unclear if the aliens are killed or merely rendered unconsciousness.
- Prior to escaping with May from the Remorath ship, Deke reprogrammed the ship's ionizer missiles to target the ship itself when launched. As Deke and May escape via the teleporter, the missiles turn away from Earth and come back to hit the ship, crippling it and killing most of its remaining crew.
