Agnes Kitsworth was a minor character from Season 4 of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. She was an art collector and former love interest of Dr. Holden Radcliffe. After being diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer, she moved to Spain to live out her remaining time in peace. Radcliffe would later use Agnes as a template for the physical body of his artificial intelligence, Aida.
History[]
BOOM[]
In 2017, Agnes was living happily in Caldes de Montbui until she received a surprise visit from Phil Coulson and Alphonso Mackenzie of S.H.I.E.L.D.. Finding her sitting on a street corner drawing a nearby church, Coulson asked Agnes about her previous relationship with Dr. Radcliffe. When Coulson mentioned Radcliffe's name, she tried to walk away, but Coulson pleaded with her, saying that he needed her help to rescue Melinda May, whom had been kidnapped by Radcliffe.
After being told that Radcliffe had used her likeness to create his android Aida, Agnes was shocked and disgusted. She told Coulson and Mack about how she had been diagnosed with a glioblastoma multiform, resulting in the formation of tumors in inoperable areas of her brain. After making multiple failed attempts to develop a treatment for her, Radcliffe left Agnes. Afterwards, Agnes moved to Spain to live out her remaining days on her terms.
Agnes initially refused to help Coulson and returned to her apartment, but Coulson and Mack followed her back. Coulson told Agnes the story of his dear friend May who had been captured by Radcliffe and replaced by an android. Although she was doubtful about Radcliffe's alleged ill actions, Kitsworth was affected by what Coulson had told her and agreed to help S.H.I.E.L.D. find Radcliffe.
Under S.H.I.E.L.D.'s advisement, Agnes sent a message to Dr. Radcliffe, asking him to meet her outside her favourite restaurant in Caldes de Montbui. Radcliffe didn't show up in person since he knew S.H.I.E.L.D. was after him, instead contacting Agnes by phone. He told Agnes that he had found a way to save her life, telling her about the Framework, a virtual-reality simulation that could sustain the human mind after the body had expired. Agnes was intrigued by the possibility of living out a full life regardless of whether or not it was the real world, ultimately choosing to go with Radcliffe instead of helping S.H.I.E.L.D. arrest him.
Agnes was brought to the Ivanov Oil Platform where Dr. Radcliffe was able to connect her to the Framework. Once Agnes' mind had been completely uploaded into the simulation, Radcliffe euthanized her body via a chemical injection.
Identity and Change[]
Within the Framework, Agnes lived a peaceful existence with Dr. Radcliffe at a luxurious island villa. By this time, Radcliffe was also a prisoner within the Framework as Aida had murdered his body in the real world. This happiness did not last long as HYDRA agents led by Madame Hydra (Aida) and the Doctor (Leo Fitz) went to Ogygia in order to find S.H.I.E.L.D. agents hiding on the island.
When Fitz saw Agnes, he began asking why she resembled Madame Hydra. Radcliffe attempted to explain the truth to Fitz, but Aida convinced him that the woman standing in front of him was actually a clone of her that Radcliffe had created. Despite Radcliffe's attempts to convince him that he wasn't behaving like his true self, Fitz drew a gun and shot Agnes in the chest, thereby destroying her consciousness and killing her permanently.
