Aiden Monroe is a minor supporting character in Season 5 of The Walking Dead. He is one of the sons of Reg and Deanna Monroe, the leaders of the Alexandria Safe-Zone. He is portrayed by Daniel Bonjour.

History[]

After Rick Grimes and his group are invited into Alexandria, Aiden is made responsible for training the newcomers to go on supply runs. In reality, however, Aiden is significantly less experienced at scavenging than any of Rick's people who have endured the zombie-infested wilderness for a long time while Aiden has been protected behind Alexandria's walls. In the episode "Remember", he takes Glenn, Noah and Tara out for training and introduces them to an activity that Aiden's hunters partake in before runs: capturing walkers and tying them up. However, one such captured walker gets free and Aiden attempts to lure it in again, but the creature attacks Tara and Glenn puts it down. This angers Aiden who confronts Glenn, but Glenn punches Aiden to the floor. Deanna breaks up the fight and reprimands Aiden.

Death[]

In the episode "Spend", Aiden has let his previous hostility go and he and Glenn take a scavenging party to a hardware store in search of micro-inverters to sustain Alexandria's power grid. This time, Aiden takes Glenn's lead and heeds his advice on how to approach the situation. However, inside the store, Aiden confronts a zombified soldier wearing body armour. As well as armour, the ghoul also has a grenade clipped to its shirt. Aiden doesn't see the grenade and when he shoots, his bullets strike the explosive and set it off. The explosion throws Aiden into a mangled shelving rack and he is impaled on the metal protrusions. The others try to help him, but pulling him off will only make him bleed out faster and delay the others' escape. Aiden confesses to Glenn that he allowed his last supply run team to die after panicking and running out on them. He then tells Glenn and the others to run before a horde of zombies close in and eat him alive.
