Alberto Falcone is a supporting character in the animated film Batman: The Long Halloween - Part 1. He is the son of Carmine Falcone, the ruthless crime lord who rules the criminal underworld of Gotham City. He is voiced by Jack Quaid.
History[]
Among the Falcone crime family, Carmine's son Alberto was considered to be a black sheep. Quiet and introverted, he grew up attending various boarding schools and later studied at Oxford University. When he returned to Gotham years later, he found himself regularly excluded from family matters. While he didn't want to eventually replace his father as head of the family, he still wished for his father to acknowledge him and accept the choices he made in his life. However, Carmine only ever viewed his son as weak.
During his time at Oxford, Alberto had met a woman named Gilda Gold. The two fell in love, a love that they consummated by the time they returned to the U.S.. Though they married later, Carmine was outraged that his son would conceive a child out of wedlock. He forced the couple to split up and had the baby violently aborted, leaving Gilda no longer capable of having children.
Years later, Gotham was plagued by a series of murders occurring on national holidays. The victims were all members of the Falcone crime family, or people connected to them in some way. While Batman was investigating the killings, he would add Alberto to his list of suspects.
Death[]
On New Year's Eve, just after thwarting the Joker's attempt to gas thousands of people in Gotham Square, Batman returned to the Falcones' private yacht where Bruce Wayne had previously been attending a fundraiser for one of Carmine's more legitimate businesses. There, Alberto was at the rear of the yacht talking to Selina Kyle when Batman suddenly emerged from the water, accusing Alberto of being behind the holiday killings. As Alberto protested his innocence, he was struck by a bullet fired from the roof of the yacht. Batman looked up to see a figure in a trenchcoat brandishing a .22 caliber pistol muzzled with a rubber nipple. Holiday fired several more shots into Alberto, killing him and sending him tumbling over the guard rail and into the freezing water below. Alberto's body was torn to pieces by the boat's propellers.
Trivia[]
- In the graphic novel that the film is based upon, Alberto was the Holiday Killer, or rather, was one of them. He, Harvey Dent and Gilda Dent had all taken part in the killing spree, but in the films, Gilda is the only Holiday Killer.
