During the fourth season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Dr. Holden Radcliffe and Aida built a Life-Model Decoy of S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, Alphonso Mackenzie. This replica infiltrated the Playground along with LMD's of Phil Coulson, Leo Fitz and Jeffrey Mace as part of a plan to execute several known Inhumans for Anton Ivanov.

History[]

The Man Behind the Shield[]

When S.H.I.E.L.D. launched an operation to Russia to rescue Jeffrey Mace from the Watchdogs, the agents on the mission split up to search the SVR facility and find the Director. After the team had split up, Coulson, Fitz and Mack were ambushed and captured by Aida, who replaced the three of them with Life-Model Decoys. They, as well as the real Director Mace, were relocated to a submarine which fled shortly after. While Aida would plug the captives into the virtual environment of the Framework, the LMD's would return to the Playground and enact a plan to bring all known Inhumans on S.H.I.E.L.D.'s watchlist to one place where they could all be executed with ease.

Self Control[]

After returning to the Playground, the LMD's began planning to have the various Inhumans across the United States brought to them under the guise of protection from the Watchdogs, when in fact they intended to execute them as part of a deal with the Superior. However, Jemma Simmons noticed that the androids' entry into the base set off an alarm device designed to detect LMD's and attempted to undermine their plan. Daisy Johnson would also discover the deception and work together with Simmons.

While preparing for the mission to retrieve the Inhumans, the Mack LMD noticed that Quake was late in reporting to the hangar. An agent informed him that Daisy had last been seen heading for the containment room in the basement, which alarmed Mack since several LMD replicas of Quake had been stored down there. Mack went down to the containment room where the Quake androids were stored, noticing some articles of clothing on the floor which indicated that the real Quake was hiding amongst the identical robots. With his shotgun-axe raised, the Mack android searched among the LMD's for the real Quake, only for her to attack him from behind. After disabling the Mack LMD, Daisy took his shotgun-axe and ran back upstairs to find Simmons.

The Mack LMD found the Mace and Coulson LMDs and informed them of what he had discovered, with them deciding to take action. The Mace LMD then put the entire base on lockdown before gathering all remaining S.H.I.E.L.D. agents together. The Mace LMD then proceeded to tell all of the agents that Quake and Simmons had been kidnapped and were the Life-Model Decoys, ordering them not to be fooled by their appearance and shoot them in either the chest or spine, before the Mackenzie LMD then stood up and ordered them to move out.

A short while later, Daisy and Simmons used a remote-controlled bomb to flood the Playground with sleeping gas, knocking out all of the base's personnel. Mack went on the hunt for Quake and Simmons, soon catching up to Quake just as she was disabling the Mace LMD. Both the Mack and Coulson androids approached from either side of Quake, shooting her in the shoulders in order to disable her. They attempted to convince Daisy to surrender and allow them to hook her up to the Framework, the virtual world that Aida had been constructing. Refusing to give up, Quake raised her arms in spite of the gunshot wounds and blasted both androids with shockwaves. The Coulson LMD was sent flying back through a glass panel whilst the Mack LMD was destroyed, his artificial skin shredded and his head blasted clear off his body.
