Dr. Antonio Taylor was a supporting character in Resident Evil: Death Island. He was a scientist and robotics engineer who worked for the Defence Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). He was kidnapped by bioterrorist Dylan Blake and forced to develop a series of bio-mechanical drones to be used in Blake's plan to dismantle human society.
History[]
Dr. Taylor was a former graduate of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and was employed by DARPA as a specialist in robotic engineering. Prior to his kidnapping, Taylor had sold classified information to foreign entities outside of the United States, which led to him being wanted for treason.
After the government had tracked Dr. Taylor to San Fransisco, the local authorities attempted to apprehend him. However, the SWAT team was intercepted by a group of armed mercenaries who proceeded to kidnap the doctor. Leon S. Kennedy, an agent with the Division of Security Operations (DSO), was later sent to San Fransisco to recover Taylor. He pursued a van suspected to be carrying Taylor, but was intercepted by María Gómez who caused his bike to crash. Leon was not seriously injured, but María and the mercenaries escaped.
Dr. Taylor was taken to an old armoury beneath Alcatraz Island which had been converted into a laboratory by Dylan Blake. Blake put the doctor to work on developing a series of mosquito-based drones capable of delivering a modified variant of the T-Virus, which was non-contagious and would only infect a single victim, whose victims would not be infected upon being bitten. Whilst working on the drones, Taylor created a backdoor code to the network in case a betrayal ever occurred, unbeknownst to Dylan, and tucked this information away in his pen, Dylan terrorized Taylor with Russian Roulette; both survived, with Dylan convincing him they were fated for other things. Dylan and María supervised over his recent work on developing the prototype drones, and ordered it be moved to mass-production.
The prototype drones infected twelve targeted individuals within San Fransisco, leading to a series of murders as the infected went on to kill several people. This attracted the attention of both the local police and the Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance (BSAA). The murders would lure in Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine and Claire Redfield just as Dylan had planned as he initiated an outbreak in Alcatraz's old prison complex. Prior to the outbreak, Taylor had escaped capture and hid in the prison compound. The Redfield siblings would later find him after he accidentally revealed his location. Taylor introduced himself as a tourist named Tony Davis.
Taylor joined Chris and Claire as they searched for survivors. When Claire introduced herself and mentioned working for TerraSave, Taylor rebuked her, calling her and her organization terrorists and stating how they were supposedly responsible for the T-Virus outbreak in Harvardville. Taylor wandered about and was attacked by a zombified tourist when the pair come to his rescue, clearing out the remaining hostiles. Claire tended to Taylor's wound, much to his surprise after their previous argument. As the pair pondered on their next objective, Chris and Claire were pricked in the neck by drones and were incapacitated. Taylor tried to run away only to be cornered by María who took the trio back to the prison compound where Taylor was locked in a cell alongside Claire.
Death[]
Jill soon returned to the prison block with Leon in tow and Leon was surprised to find Dr. Taylor locked up with Claire, revealing his true identity to the others. Soon, Leon fell victim to the sting of a bio-drone and was infected with the T-Virus. Just then, Dylan and María presented themselves to the group, with Dylan going into a monologue about his plan and his motivation for doing so. While he had infected Leon, Chris and Claire, he had spared Jill in order to give her a choice: to save Dr. Taylor by shooting Claire before she succumbed to her infection, or let Claire turn and kill Taylor. Taylor begged for Jill to save him, but when Jill raised her gun, she pointed it at Dylan.
Dylan then brandished his revolver and pointed it at Taylor, shooting him in the chest. He and María then left the group to their fates while Claire, despite her illness, tried desperately to help Taylor. Taylor questioned the group's resolve to keep fighting even in such bleak situations with Chris and Leon admitting that the world was messed up but it couldn't be saved by just destroying it or killing its people. Inspired and moved by their words, Taylor admitted that he had lived a selfish life doing things for his own benefits, pondering how he could have changed had he met them sooner. Before dying, Taylor handed the backdoor code to Claire, surmising that Dylan might have changed the codes after his escape before succumbing to his wounds.
