Arat was a minor supporting character between the seventh and ninth seasons of The Walking Dead. She was a member of the Saviors and one of Negan's most trusted soldiers. She was portrayed by Elizabeth Ludlow.
History[]
Nothing is known of Arat's past before the apocalypse. At some point following the undead outbreak, she was recruited into a band of survivors called the Saviors, led by Negan Smith. The Saviors would use violence and intimidation tactics to force other survivors into giving them needed supplies, killing whoever opposed them. Arat proved to be fiercely loyal to Negan during her time with the Saviors, carrying out many acts of murder on his orders. Such acts included the murder of several members of the Hollowbranch community, including Cyndie's younger brother, before they fled to Oceanside, and the murder of Alexandria resident Olivia.
During the war between the Saviors and the Militia, Arat remained loyal to Negan and his ideals. After Negan was defeated by Rick Grimes, she and the remaining Saviors surrendered. In the months following the war, Arat attempted to adjust to life within the new network of communities that Rick was forming, a great deal of resentment among the former adversaries lingered.
Death[]
In the Season 9 episode "Warning Signs", Arat was captured by the women from Oceanside, who took her back to their former home at the Hollowbranch Outreach Recovery facility. Maggie Rhee and Daryl Dixon had discovered evidence that Beatrice, one of the Oceansiders, had killed Justin, a Savior, the previous night. They arrived at Hollowbranch to find Beatrice and Cyndie along with Arat, who was on her knees and begging for her life.
When Maggie asked what was going on, Beatrice explained how Maggie's execution of Gregory had inspired the Oceansiders to take their revenge against the Saviors. Cyndie told Maggie about how the Saviors had murdered all of the men in their community and that Arat had personally killed her brother, smiling as she did it. Cyndie demanded that Arat repeat the words she had spoken back when she committed the deed, and Arat said "No exceptions". This caused Maggie and Daryl to recall how Negan had killed Glenn and they decided to allow Cyndie to take her vengeance. As the two walked away, Arat sobbed and begged them for help, saying that she had changed her ways. Whether this was true or not became irrelevant as Cyndie thrust a spear through the back of Arat's head, killing her.
