Art Lean is one of the Earthrealm tournament competitors in Paul W. S. Anderson's Mortal Kombat film. He is one of the few characters in the film that is not based on any of the characters from the video game series. He is portrayed by Kenneth Edwards.
Art Lean is an African-American martial artist who fights on the global tournament circuit and one of few people who disagrees with the media's slander of Johnny Cage's fighting techniques. He is chosen to participate in Mortal kombat and, like many other fighters, is shocked and disturbed after witnessing the kind of brutality he will be facing, such as Sub-Zero's freezing ability. Late in the tournament, Art is chosen to face Outworld's reigning champion Goro. Despite his preparations, he is no match for Goro's brute strength and is savagely beaten to death. Shang Tsung then consumes Art's soul, but Art is released after Shang is defeated by Liu Kang, passing on into the hereafter.
