Barbara Chamberlain (portrayed by Karina Logue) was a minor character in the first season of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. She was a Los Angeles city manager and computer programmer responsible for developing ARTIE (Automated Real-time Traffic Information Exchange), an electronic information distribution system that would become an integral component of Skynet. Skynet had sent a T-888 infiltrator back in time to ensure that Barbara completed her work, which it did so by building a relationship with her, even marrying her.
As time went on, Barbara would often lose focus in her work or encounter obstacles that could threaten the development of ARTIE. Her husband Vick would gently encourage her when she had doubts and would secretly dispose of anything and anyone that endangered her work. All the while, Barbara remained completely unaware of her husband's true nature, believing that his unusual and seemingly robotic mannerisms were the result of brain trauma he had suffered in a car crash. While Barbara was certainly knowledgeable and skilled in computer science, she seemed to lack common sense.
Eventually, Barbara would complete her project and ARTIE would become an important part of Los Angeles' infrastructure. With ARTIE completed and Skynet's eventual creation secured, Vick determined that Barbara had served her purpose and murdered her, strangling her to death in the shower.
