Katherine "Kate" Kane - also known as Batwoman - is a heroic character from DC Comics. Daughter of U.S. Army colonel Jacob Kane, she followed in her father's footsteps and joined the military, but was expelled for unknown reasons. Her life took a downward spiral after that and she began engaging in drugs, booze and sex. One night, she was ambushed by a gang of thugs, but was saved by Batman. However, Kate was less than grateful for the rescue.
Two years after that night, Kate had turned to a life of vigilantism and "borrowed" Batman's gimmick, donning a bat costume and taking on the identity of "Batwoman". Batman monitored her from afar and was disgusted by the fact that Batwoman used guns when fighting crime. Eventually, Batman decided that he would take Batwoman under his wing and offered her the guidance she needed. Kate reluctantly accepted and began following Batman's tutelage, which meant having to switch her live ammunition for rubber bullets.
DC Animated Movie Universe[]
Batwoman appears in Batman: Bad Blood and Justice League Dark: Apokolips War. She is voiced by Yvonne Strahovski in Bad Blood but does not speak in Apokolips War. In Bad Blood, she becomes involved with the Bat-Family as they try to save Batman who has been brainwashed by the League of Assassins. After saving Bruce, he welcomes Kate into the team, provided she stops using guns.
In Apokolips War, Batwoman meets an unceremonious end when she, Batgirl, Batwing and Black Orchid attempt to destroy an Apokoliptian planet-reaper. During the battle, she was dragged off-screen by a Parademon and is never seen again.
