"Big Daddy" (real name unknown) is the main antagonist of the 2014 action-thriller film The Purge: Anarchy. He is the leader of a group of Purgers who represent the New Founding Fathers of America, the government institution responsible for establishing the Purge. Believing that the Purge is the solution to America's problems, this bloodthirsty veteran considers it his patriotic duty to ensure a successful Purge. He is portrayed by Jack Conley.
History[]
On the eve of March 22nd 2023, Big Daddy and his crew take to the streets of Los Angeles to partake in the Annual Purge. They target a number of apartment buildings around the city, killing some residents while capturing others. When they arrive at the building occupied by Eva Sanchez and her daughter Cali, they attempt to capture the pair only to be interrupted by Leo Barnes, a mysterious vigilante who rescues the pair while killing several of Big Daddy's men. Big Daddy himself is also shot, but is not fatally wounded.
As the night progresses, Big Daddy and his remaining death squads seek out Leo and the group he is protecting, intent on taking revenge. However, when they catch up to Leo at Tanya's house, he, Eva, Cali, Shane and Liz are captured by a group of bikers.
Death[]
Towards the end of the film, after having escaped from a group of murderous socialites, Leo locates the home of Warren Grass, the man responsible for the death of his son. When it seems that Leo's business with Warren is concluded, he exits the house only to be suddenly shot by Big Daddy, who had been tracking him. As Leo lies bleeding on Warren's lawn, Big Daddy tells Leo that the Purge is for taking lives, not saving them, and that people aren't killing enough to keep the numbers balanced. He congratulates Leo for engaging in his Purge, assuming he had murdered his son's killer. However, Leo had spared Warren's life due to breaking down and being unable to go through with it after continuously saving lives throughout the night. In turn, Warren steps out of the house with a gun and shoots Big Daddy through the head. Big Daddy's goons are about to retaliate when a siren sounds, signalling the end of the Purge and making further violence illegal.
