Movie Morgue Wiki

Bob is a supporting character in the 2023 horror-comedy film Cocaine Bear. He is a police detective investigating Syd White's drug smuggling operations. Following the death of Andrew C. Thornton II, he heads to the Chattahoochee–Oconee National Forest in Georgia to find the drugs that Thornton had air-dropped over the area.

History[]

With the revelation of Andrew Thornton's demise, Bob visits the area where Thornton's body was found. Several weapons and a small amount of cocaine are found on the body, but police officer Reba informs Bob that the wreckage of Thornton's plane has been discovered, including its black box, which provides a clue as to where Thornton had dropped his payload. With the drugs determined to be somewhere in the Chattahoochee–Oconee mountain range, Bob decides to go and investigate, leaving Reba to take care of his pet dog.

Arriving at Blood Mountain, Bob follows the nature trail in search of the missing drugs. After some hours of searching, he stops to rest at a gazebo. While he sits on the gazebo's bench, he looks up and spots something through the window slit in the roof. Upon closer inspection, the item appears to be a duffel bag and Bob believes it to be one of the bags of cocaine that Thornton had dumped. In order to get onto the gazebo's roof, he is forced to climb up a nearby tree and jump from one of its branches (This conveniently happens off-screen). In doing this, however, Bob injures his hip and finds himself stuck atop the gazebo with no safe way of getting down.

Later on, Syd White's son Eddie, his fixer Daveed, and local hoodlum Stache, arrive at the gazebo. Daveed and Eddie had been told by Stache that the drugs they were looking for were on the gazebo's roof. The trio are surprised to find Bob atop the gazebo, holding the cocaine bag and a gun, pointed at them. Daveed tries to pull his own gun but Bob shoots his hand, oddly enough managing to sever two fingers which weren't even next to each other. While Daveed nurses his wounds, Stache and Eddie get down on their bellies as Bob tells them that they are all under arrest. However, Daveed warns the group that a bear is approaching from the woods. Bob doesn't believe it, until he turns and spots the bear nearing the gazebo. While Bob and Daveed watch the bear, Stache and Eddie play dead as the beast sniffs around the area. After several tense seconds, the bear wanders over to Eddie and collapses on top of him.

Unsure if the bear is dead or merely asleep, Daveed asks Bob if they can call a truce until he can help Eddie. Bob agrees and Daveed creeps over to the bear to discover that it is still alive. While Daveed crouches beside the bear, a packet of cocaine slips out of his back pocket. The bear awakes at the scent of the drugs and gets off of Eddie, walking over to the parcel as Daveed backs away. To everyone's bewilderment, the bear takes the parcel of drugs and swallows it whole. The intoxicated beast then approaches Eddie and appears to play with him. Eddie fears for his life as the creature dances with him, but Bob draws its attention by grabbing another parcel of cocaine from the duffel bag and tearing it open. He then pours the narcotic powder out of the bag and the others watch in amazement as the beast tries to eat as much of it as it can. Bob then takes another parcel and throws it towards the woods, the addicted bear running after it.

Death[]

With the bear gone, Stache runs away and Bob and Daveed are once again pointing guns at one another. Both Bob and Eddie urge Daveed to forget about the cocaine and leave, but Daveed is stubborn and refuses to go without the drugs. Suddenly a shot rings out and Bob is struck in the stomach, falling onto his back. The shot also draws the attention of the bear and Daveed and Eddie run off before it comes back. As Bob sprawls out, he pushes the duffel bag off the gazebo roof. The bear then grabs the bag full of coke in its mouth and flees.

A minute later, Daveed and Eddie come back to the gazebo with Syd White, who had shot Bob with a hunting rifle. Syd asks Bob where the cocaine went and Bob tells him that the bear took it. Seconds later, Reba arrives and Bob is delighted that Syd and his gang are about to be arrested. However, it turns out that Reba has been working for Syd all along. Syd asks where the bear has gone, much to Bob's amusement as he laughs at the idea of hunting down an apex predator high on cocaine. He points northward and Syd and his crew depart, leaving Bob to succumb to his bullet wound.
