Brendan Nash was a minor antagonist in the fourth season of Smallville, appearing in the episode "Forever." He was a student at Smallville High School who possessed the metahuman ability to freeze people, turning them into wax statues with a touch. He was portrayed by Steven Grayhm.

History[]

Little is known about Brendan's life except that his father owned a construction company and that he hated his stepmother. How he obtained his superhuman powers is unknown, though most likely a result of the kryptonite meteor shower that struck Smallville when Clark Kent arrived on Earth (as is the case of most of the metahumans in the series).

During his final year of high school, Brendan applied to numerous colleges, eager to leave Smallville behind. Unfortunately for him, every college he applied to rejected him. Having spent most of high school taking photographs for The Torch, Brendan had developed an obsessive fascination with several of his fellow students, those that were reknowned by the school and were predicted to be successful in later life. After being rejected by so many colleges, his obsession turned into a full-blown psychosis and he became desperate to surround himself with people who mattered. This drove him to force his father into building a replica of Smallville High within the Nash Construction warehouse so that Brendan could live out his delusion with the students from the school yearbook's "most likely" pages.

On graduation day, Brendan kidnapped five students - including Lana Lang and Chloe Sullivan - and imprisoned them within his replica school, forcing them to play along with his everlasting high school fantasy. If anyone refused to play along, Brendan would punish them by using his power to turn them into a wax statue.

Death[]

Clark Kent and Lois Lane noticed that Chloe and the other kidnapped students were missing from school and began investigating. Their search soon led them to the Nash Construction warehouse where Brendan's school replica had been built. After breaking into the facsimile, Clark discovered that Brendan had turned Lana into a statue and was prepared to shatter her. Clark saved Lana and confronted Brendan who attempted to turn him to wax as well. However, Clark's Kryptonian genetics were not affected by Brendan's power and actually caused it to backfire, turning Brendan to wax instead. As Brendan was staggering next to a railing at the top of a flight of stairs when he transmuted, his footing was unbalanced and his leg broke off. Brendan's body then fell over the railing and onto the floor below, smashing to pieces. Upon Brendan's death, his power wore off of Lana and she returned to normal.
