Coontz (portrayed by Stephen Root) was a minor antagonist in RoboCop 3. He was part of the rebel movement opposing OCP's efforts to evict the residents of Detroit's Cadillac Heights area. However, he was secretly working as an informant to Paul McDaggett, the leader of the Urban Rehabilitators (Rehabs). He tipped off McDaggett to the location of the rebel hideout,though RoboCop had caught him in the act. RoboCop was focused on arresting McDaggett and pursued him, giving Coontz time to get away and return to the hideout.
When Coontz returned to the rebel hideout, he held Bertha and Moreno at gunpoint. However, he in turn was threatened by Zack. When the Rehabs stormed the hideout moments later, Coontz was caught in the crossfire and killed. McDaggett remarked Coontz's death as a positive since he no longer had to pay him.
