Corvus Glaive was a villainous character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, appearing in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. He was a member of the Black Order, a group of powerful aliens adopted by the warlord Thanos. Maw believed in Thanos' vision of universal balance and sought to help him obtain the six Infinity Stones that would allow him to erase half of all life in the cosmos. He was also married to fellow Order member Proxima Midnight. He was portrayed by Michael Shaw.

History[]

Avengers: Infinity War[]

Glaive and the other members of the Black Order joined Thanos as he sought out the Infinity Stones across the universe. After acquiring the Power Stone on Xandar and decimating its population, they would intercept the Statesman, a starship ferrying Asgardian refugees to Earth. There, Thanos obtained the Space Stone and wiped out half of the Asgardians. Knowing that two of the Stones were on Earth, he sent his adoptive children there to obtain them.

Midnight and Glaive would travel to Edinburgh, Scotland in order to obtain the Mind Stone, which was in the possession of the android Vision. The pair ambushed Vision and Wanda Maximoff in the empty city streets in the middle of the night, but the former Avengers did not make retrieving the Stone an easy task. As the fight progressed, Vision and Wanda received unexpected reinforcements as Captain America, Black Widow and Falcon arrived on the scene, forcing Midnight and Glaive to withdraw. When the Avengers took Vision to Wakanda to have the Mind Stone safely removed from his head, Midnight, Glaive and Cull Obsidian would later lead an Outrider assault on the small, hidden nation. As his compatriots oversaw the assault, Glaive infiltrated the medical lab where Princess Shuri was working on seperating the Mind Stone from Vision. He killed the guards outside the lab, but Shuri blasted him back with her sonic gauntlets.

Seeing Glaive inside the lab and wanting to protect Shuri and her people, Vision grabbed Glaive and flew off into the forest. As they fought, Glaive gained the upper hand, stabbing Vision through the chest. However, Captain America once again came to the android's aid, catching Glaive off-guard. Glaive was able to overpower Rogers, but had dropped his blade. As he was about to kill Rogers, Vision was able to grab Glaive's blade and impale him from behind, killing him.

Avengers: Endgame[]

Five years following the Decimation, the heroes who survived Thanos' Snap devised a means of safely travelling back in time in order to obtain the Infinity Stones and undo the effects of the Snap. The way this worked was that the past timelines that the Avengers travelled to were actually alternate timelines accessed via the Quantum Realm, thus whatever they did in those timelines would have no effect on their present. When Nebula and War Machine travelled back to an alternate 2014, a link was established between the 2023 Nebula and the 2014 Nebula. This allowed Thanos to learn about how his future counterpart had succeeded in his plan to cleanse the universe and how the Avengers were attempting to undo his victory.

Thanos, Glaive and the Black Order would find a means of following 2023 Nebula back through the Quantum Realm and into her timeline where they fought against the Avengers for the Infinity Stones. Unlike the other Order members, Glaive was killed before Iron Man snapped Thanos' army out of existence; he briefly fought against Captain Marvel, Okoye, Valkyrie and Scarlet Witch and was killed when Okoye ran him through with her vibranium spear. Proxima Midnight cradled his lifeless body until Iron Man used the Infinity Stones to wipe out Thanos' forces, reducing her and her husband's body to dust that vanished on the wind.
