Dave Kurokawa is a supporting character in the cyberpunk anime OVA Cyber City Oedo 808. Appearing in the first episode "Virtual Death", he was a brilliant computer engineer and was responsible for developing Oedo's largest skyscraper, a colossal tower reaching up into the Earth's stratosphere.

Japanese voice: Takeshi Aono

English Voice: Marc Smith

History[]

In 2793, Dave Kurokawa and his associate Yoshikazu Amachi were in charge of the construction of the largest building in Oedo, but Kurokawa's contribution to the project was always overshadowed by Amachi's own prowess. Resentful of his partner, Kurokawa decided that if he ever wanted to make a name for himself, then he would have to take Amachi out of the picture. One night, he and Amachi were working on one of the tower's upper levels when Kurokawa shoved Amachi over a railing, sending him plummeting hundreds of storeys to his death.

Fifteen years later, the completed tower's central computer was hijacked. The central computer served as a hub for all of Oedo's major networks, and so the perpetrator was able to gain access to not only the building's security systems but also municipal security systems and even an orbital weapons satellite. The Cyber Police sent their "hounds" - former criminals forced into police service to reduce their sentences - to resolve the situation. Shunsuke Sengoku managed to reach Kurokawa's office and, after threatening Kurokawa with death, discovered that Kurokawa's old partner Amachi was behind the system hijack and that the sole reason behind it was revenge on Kurokawa.

Death[]

While Sengoku confronted the seemingly undead Amachi, Kurokawa remained in his office. Amachi had corrupted several security systems within the tower and even disabled the tower's gyroscopic stabilizers, causing the building to slant with the risk of collapsing across Oedo and destroying the city. However, Sengoku defeated Amachi and terminated his control over the building. Several computers within the tower overloaded as a result of Amachi's sudden deletion, including the terminal in Kurokawa's office. Kurokawa was grasping onto his desk as the building had slanted, but when his computer terminal suddenly exploded, he lost his grip and slid out of the broken window, plummeting to his death.
