Earl Danzinger (portrayed by Terry Serpico) is a supporting antagonist in The Purge: Election Year. He is a Neo-Nazi and white supremacist who commands a team of like-minded mercenaries. During the Purge of 2040, he and his group are hired by the New Founding Fathers of America to assassinate Senator Charlie Roan, who threatens to dismantle the NFFA regime and abolish the Purge.
History[]
On the night of the Purge, Senator Roan is locked down inside her home. However, two of her security staff - Chief Couper and Eric Busmalis - sabotage the surveillance feed, allowing Danzinger and his men to set foot on the property unnoticed. After eliminating the guards outside, the mercenaries are granted access to the house by Eric. Fortunately for the Senator, her bodyguard Leo Barnes notices that the surveillance footage has been looped and realises that the Senator has been betrayed. He leads Roan out of the house via a hidden trap door in her office floor, leaving behind an explosive booby trap for Danzinger's team.
While some of Danzinger's troops were killed in the explosion, one of them had managed to shoot Leo with a trace bullet, allowing the mercenaries to track him. Leo and Roan would later meet a small group of civilians trying to survive Purge Night and they would travel across the city together as they sought refuge. Danzinger's team located the fugitives and attacked from their helicopter, but the triage van they were riding in took cover beneath an overpass. During this time, Leo removed the trace bullet lodged in his shoulder and the group were able to continue towards the Safe Zone without being tracked.
Eventually, Danzinger and his men manage to crash Leo's van and kidnap the Senator. They then bring her to the cathedral Our Lady of Sorrow, where the NFFA members are celebrating their Purge. After the senator is delivered, Danzinger and his men leave the room to wait until the end of the Purge.
Death[]
After Leo and Dante Bishop's men have saved the Senator from the church, they are attacked by Danzinger and his men in the parking lot. Dante manages to kill the henchmen, but Danzinger shoots him repeatedly, killing him, before engaging Leo in a knife fight. During the fight, he is stabbed multiple times and severely injured. He gets up nonetheless but falls to his knees the moment after. Leo finishes him off with a kick to the head, which kills him.
