Eugene Dix was a main character in the horror film Final Destination 2. He was a high school teacher and a survivor of the Route 23 pileup incident. He is the sixth survivor to die in the film.

History[]

On May 13th 2000, Eugene was riding his motorcycle to work when he got held up by traffic at the on-ramp to Route 23. Kimberly Corman had stopped her SUV across the on-ramp, blocking access to the highway. While police officer Thomas Burke was questioning Kimberly, a terrible accident occurred on the highway that left eighteen people dead. Had Kimberly not held up the traffic, Eugene and several other motorists would have died as well.

Following the accident, Eugene and the other survivors were questioned at the police station. Kimberly explained to everyone how she had experienced a premonition of the disaster shortly before it happened, invoking the memory of the Flight 180 disaster the previous year. Eugene chimed in, explaining how he had heard the theories regarding how the survivors of the incident had all mysteriously died afterwards, that Death had supposedly stalked each one of them to fulfill its sinister design. While Eugene had heard the stories, he didn't actually believe any of it and laughed off the pileup as a coincidence.

The next day, after Evan Lewis's death, the remaining survivors reunite for safety, and Eugene expresses his disbelief that Death is still after them. He leaves the apartment and goes into an elevator along with fellow survivor Nora Carpenter. While in the elevator, he witnessed Nora's death and became suicidal. He tookBurke's gun and tried to shoot himself, but none of the six shots went off, as it wasn't his turn to die. Now believing the group, he teamed up with them to try to find a way to cheat Death's plan.

The following day, the group left Burke's apartment to find Isabella Hudson. Along the way, their vehicle suffered a blowout and crashed onto a nearby farm. The back of the car was penetrated by PVC pipes, one of which punctured Eugene's lung, leaving him in serious conditions. He was then taken to the hospital.

Death[]

While in a hospital bed, Eugene watched helplessly as the vents in his room shut of their own accord and the tube to his oxygen tank mysteriously snapped, spreading the pure oxygen into the air. His bed began to roll away from the wall, pulling the cable to his defibrillator until the plug came out of the socket. As Eugene gasped for air, the defibrillator went into emergency mode, allowing him to breathe again. Everything seemed fine, until Clear Rivers turned up and opened his door. With the oxygen sifting in the room and the vents shut, the plug was pulled out and created a spark. The oxygen was ignited and created an explosion, incinerating both Eugene and Clear.
