Francine (portrayed by Dahlia Legault) was a supporting character in The Walking Dead, appearing between Seasons 5 and 8. She was a resident of Alexandria and later a member of the Militia during the war against the Saviors.

History[]

Almost nothing is known of Francine's life before the apocalypse, except that she was apparently involved with either the police or military. She was a capable fighter and extremely stubborn, qualities that allowed her to survive the undead outbreak until she reached the Alexandria Safe-Zone. As a resident of Alexandria, Francine worked as a member of the construction crew.

When Rick Grimes and his group of survivors later arrived at Alexandria, Francine and the other residents welcomed them. She would come to respect them a great deal, especially after Abraham Ford saved her after she was injured during a walker attack while her neighbour Tobin had left her to die. Following the murder of Reg Monroe and execution of Pete Anderson, Francine was among several concerned Alexandrians who feared that Rick's methods would result in the destruction of their community. However, she came to respect and admire Rick greatly when his leadership skills and courage inspired the Alexandrians to take up arms and clear a herd of zombies out of their town.

When Alexandria fell under the control of Negan and the Saviors, Francine supported Rick as he plotted to try and liberate Alexandria and the Hilltop from their oppression. She and Tara Chambler would later encounter the community of Oceanside, helping them with eliminating a walker presence and securing weapons to be used against the Saviors. She later helps to protect Alexandria when the Saviors come in force.

Death[]

In the Season 8 episode "The Damned", Francine is among several Militia members who raid a Savior outpost at an abandoned café. Although the Militia seem to have the advantage and manage to kill most of the Saviors, Francine is still shot and killed during the battle.
