G.W. Kane

Gilbert Ward Kane is the executive officer of the USCSS Nostromo in the original Alien film directed by Ridley Scott. He was portrayed by John Hurt.

Death

Kane is the first person to die in Alien. When the Nostromo is investigating a distress signal from an uninhabited planet, Kane discovers the xenomorph eggs and a face-hugger latches on to his face. When he is taken back aboard the ship, the alien creature cannot be removed but it eventually lets go on its own, dying immediately after. Kane decides to have a meal before going back into cryogenic stasis and while eating he begins suffering from terrible convulsions. He writhes in pain on the table as his crewmates hold him down, and to their horror, a xenomorph chest-burster erupts from Kane's torso, killing him.
