Gabriela Lopez (portrayed by Elizabeth Rodriguez) is a supporting character in Logan. She was a nurse who worked for the medical research group Alkali-Transigen, involved with the cloning of mutant children for the express purpose of using them for military applications. Gabriela attempted to raise her mutant children humanely, but her efforts were shut down by Dr. Zander Rice, head of the project, who outright forbade the nurses from treating the subjects with kindness as they were being developed as nothing more than tools for warfare.
Due to the difficulty of controlling the subjects as well as the repeated failed attempts to produce certain desired power sets, Rice declared the project a failure and ordered the children be euthanised. Unknown to Rice, Gabriela had recorded many events that transpired in the facility, and released at least twenty children, sending them to Eden, a safe haven for mutants.
Gabriela fled from Transigen, taking with her Subject X-23, also known as Laura. Gabriela tracked down the former X-Man James "Logan" Howlett, begging him for help and offering a large sum of money to take Laura to Eden.
Death[]
Gabriela's death occurs off-screen. While Logan is away seeing Caliban and Charles Xavier, she stays at his motel room. She is presumably killed by Donald Pierce who has been looking for her, and when Logan returns to the motel he finds Gabriela has been beaten and shot.
