Harmon James (portrayed by Christopher James Baker) is a minor antagonist from The Purge: Election Year. He is an assistant to the New Founding Fathers of America and strongly believes in the purpose behind the Purge, even to the point of psychotic fanaticism.
During the 2040 Purge, Minister Edwidge Owens oversees the NFFA's annual Purge Mass at the cathedral Our Lady of Sorrow. While Owens gives his opening sermon to the congregation, James prepares the first sacrifices of the evening, which include Senator Charlie Roan, who is running for President with the intention of abolishing the Purge. Before the Senator is brought before the congregation, James wheels out a bound man by the name of Lawrence. Purge Mass begins with James taking a knife that has been doused with holy water and using it to stab Lawrence to death.
After killing Lawrence, James brings out Senator Roan and Minister Owens invites the head of the NFFA, Caleb Warrens, to make the first cut. However, it is then that Roan's bodyguard Leo Barnes and civilians Joe Dixon, Marcos Dali and Laney Rucker arrive and Marcos shoots Warrens dead. A shootout then ensues, but James takes a pair of guns before quietly retreating to another part of the cathedral.
Death[]
As Roan and Joe are untying captives in the cathedral's basement, James appears brandishing a shotgun and shoots two captives dead. He aims at the Senator but the shotgun clicks empty, forcing him to switch to a handgun. As James draws his new weapon, Joe pulls two handguns and fires at him. Even as he is being struck by round after round, James manages to shoot back and fatally wound Joe before he dies.
