Harry Andrews was a supporting character in the sci-fi horror film Alien 3. He was the Superintendent of the Weyland-Yutani prison and foundry complex on the planet Fiorina 161. He was portrayed by Brian Glover.
History[]
As the warden of Fiorina 161's prison complex, Andrews was not well-liked by the inmates, though he was fair with his prisoners and commanded respect. When the facility was officially closed down in 2175, he opted to stay and continue overseeing the remaining prisoners.
In 2179, Ellen Ripley was brought into the prison after her escape pod crash-landed on the planet. While willing to grant Ripley shelter, Andrews was not happy about her presence; he believed that having a woman in the prison would agitate the inmates, all of whom had previously committed violent acts. He was proven correct, of course, as several inmates attempted to rape Ripley at one point.
Andrews' misgivings about Ripley's presence would only be exacerbated further as a number of violent incidents occurred, resulting in the deaths of various inmates. The psychotic inmate Golic was suspected to be responsible for the murders, but he protested that he was innocent, claiming to have seen a "dragon" kill the prisoners. Ripley supported this claim, explaining that Golic's so-called "dragon" was most likely a Xenomorph. Her suspicions were confirmed later when she witnessed the creature kill medical officer Clemens.
Death[]
Ripley attempted to warn Andrews about the Xenomorph's presence in the facility, but the Superintendent did not believe her claims. While gathering the remaining prisoners in the mess hall to try and quell any lingering rumours regarding the disappearance of the slain prisoners, he was ambushed by the Dragon, which attacked him from a vent in the ceiling. The alien lifted Andrews off his feet and pulled him up into the vent where it killed him. The full details are not shown, though blood is seen raining down from the vent.
