The Heretic was a villainous character from the DC Animated Movie Universe. Appearing in Batman: Bad Blood, he was seemingly meant to be the main antagonist. However, he was killed and supplanted by the film's true main antagonist, Talia al Ghul. He was voiced by Travis Willingham.
History[]
The Heretic had no true name; he was a clone of Damian Wayne created by the League of Assassins, his growth accelerated artificially. Though he appeared to be in his late 30's, he was less than a year old. He had been physically and mentally conditioned to serve as Talia al Ghul's right hand, but was motivated by a burning hatred for his template, Damian.
While Batman and Batwoman were fighting a group of C-list villains, Heretic appeared and attacked Batman as well. He blew up the factory where the fight took place, making it appear that Batman died in the explosion, but had actually captured the Dark Knight as part of Talia's plan for global domination.
Three weeks later, Heretic would return to Gotham to steal tech from Wayne Enterprises. Despite interference from Nightwing, Robin and Batwoman, the heist was successful. Later, he would invade the Batcave where he ambushed Damian, taking him captive.
Death[]
Heretic captured Robin and brought him to the church of the Sisters of Perpetual Grace where the Mad Hatter was experimenting on Bruce Wayne. There, Heretic took off his mask, revealing that he was a clone of Damian. With Damian in his clutches, Heretic planned on having the Hatter transplant Damian's memories and experiences into Heretic's mind, but then Talia entered the room. Heretic confessed that he wanted Talia's love and embraced her. As Heretic hugged her, Talia drew a Luger pistol and shot him, declaring him as weak.
