Hye-sun is the main protagonist of the Korean horror film Seoul Station. A young woman struggling to get by in Seoul, her already sorrowful life is further darkened when the city falls to a plague that turns those it infects into mindless, violent monsters.

History[]

Prior to the film's events, Hye-sun had escaped from a life of prostitution with her boyfriend Ki-woong. The two were put up in an inn for a number of months, but without a steady income their debts continued to pile up. After Hye-sun found Ki-woong in an internet café trying to sell her body online, she kicked him out.

Not long after her fight with Ki-woong, Hye-sun encountered a group of homeless people running from a pack of zombies. She joined the men as they fled from Seoul Station and sought refuge at the nearby police precinct, though most of the group had fallen to the infected by the time she arrived there. The survivors locked themselves inside the jail cell for their own safety, but the undead burst into the precinct and surrounded the cage, leaving the survivors with no way out. That would change when riot police arrived at the precinct, distracting the horde long enough for Hye-sun and the last surviving homeless man to let themselves out and escape.

After traveling for miles through subway tunnels, Hye-sun emerged inside a quarantine zone. This place would not remain safe for long as the military had started shooting people attempting to leave while zombies managed to breach the barricade on the other side. Hye-sun tried to escape the carnage by climbing her way over the street via a telephone cable. However, she struggled to pull herself along the gap and another survivor came back to help her at the cost of his life. Hye-sun managed to cross over the horde, but not before a zombie had managed to jump up and scratch her ankle.

Death and reanimation[]

Towards the film's end, Hye-sun managed to find relative safety in an abandoned apartment showroom. Not long after arriving there, she was joined by Ki-woong, who had been accompanied by Hye-sun's father. The door then opened to reveal Suk-gyu, but Hye-sun is less than happy to see him as she turns to Ki-woong, telling him that Suk-gyu isn't her father but her former pimp. Suk-gyu then attempted to attack Hye-sun, but Ki-woong came to her defence, brandishing a kitchen knife. Suk-gyu, however, easily overpowered Ki-woong, wresting the knife from him and slashing his throat with it.

Leaving Ki-woong to bleed to death, Suk-gyu followed Hye-sun through the showroom, cornering her within an extravagent apartment bedroom. Throwing her onto the bed, he prepared to rape her, holding her throat with one hand to keep her down. As he did this, Hye-sun lost consciousness, having apparently choked in Suk-gyu's grasp. Shocked that he had seemingly killed her, Suk-gyu attempted to revive Hye-sun with CPR. While checking her for vital signs, he noticed the scratch on Hye-sun's ankle from where a zombie had clawed at her hours before. Hye-sun then awoke as a zombie and tackled Suk-gyu, pinning him to the floor and biting him. The bloody details are obscured by the bed with only Hye-sun's and Suk-gyu's shadows cast over the wall indicating Suk-gyu's demise.
