Bobby Drake - also known as "Iceman" - is a Marvel Comics superhero and a member of the X-Men. He has appeared in several of the X-Men films in which he has been consistently portrayed by Shawn Ashmore.

Overview[]

Bobby Drake would have lived the life of an ordinary teenager were it not for his mutant abilities. He possessed the power to manipulate and create ice, earning him the moniker of "Iceman" from his peers. Feared and misunderstood by his family, Bobby was enrolled at the School for Gifted Youngsters by Charles Xavier. At the school, Bobby found acceptance among the other students, all of whom were mutants like him. When he came of age, he would become a full-fledged member of the X-Men.

Death[]

In X-Men: Days of Future Past, Iceman is among a group of mutants resisting the Sentinel regime that rules the war-torn world of the future. At the beginning of the film, the X-Men are confronted by Sentinels and Iceman attempts to freeze one of the killing machines. The Sentinels have the ability to adapt and copy the powers of the mutants they fight and one of them attacks Bobby after copying the pyrokinetic powers of Sunspot. Whilst in his ice form, Bobby is decapitated by the Sentinel which then smashes his frozen severed head. However, moments later, Kitty Pryde uses her chrono-skimming ability to send Bishop's consciousness back in time by three days. In the past, Bishop warns the others of the Sentinel attack, allowing them to avoid the confrontation completely and thus negating Bobby's death.
