Ithrawan Plonek was a minor character from Farscape, appearing in the third season episode "Season of Death". He was a Scarran spy attempting to gather information on Scorpius. His investigation led him to the frozen planet where Scorpius had received his coolant suit and Plonek arranged to have himself cryogenically frozen within a stasis pod, emerging the next time Scorpius returned for maintenance in order to capture him. He was portrayed by Thomas Holesgrove.
History[]
When Scorpius returned to the planet in pursuit of John Crichton, Plonek emerged from his cryo-pod and killed the Diagnosan doctor Tocot. Tocot's business partner and interpreter Grunchlk, who had been strong-armed by the Peacekeepers, neglected to tell them about Plonek until after he had emerged. Using a neural control device, Scorpius manipulated Grunchlk into approaching Plonek and throwing him off Scorpius' trail by telling him that Crichton was on the planet. Knowing that Scorpius was pursuing Crichton, Plonek went after him, though not before stuffing Grunchlk into a cryo-pod.
Death[]
Plonek attacked Crichton and D'Argo in the surgery. With no weapons at hand, Crichton and D'Argo attempted to escape outside where the frigid temperature would leave the Scarran at a disadvantage. The low temperature prevented Plonek from using his heat blast, but he was still much stronger than the human and Luxan were. Crichton and D'Argo were saved in the nick of time by Aeryn who blasted Plonek multiple times with D'Argo's qualta blade. Though she ran out of ammunition before she could kill Plonek, the Scarran's thick hide had been sufficiently wounded, allowing Crichton to finish him off by stabbing him where the skin had been breached using an icicle.
