
Jason Edward Mewes (born June 12, 1974) is an American actor, comedian, film producer, and podcaster. He is best known for his portrayal of Jay, the vocal half of the duo Jay & Silent Bob, alongside his best friend and fellow actor/filmmaker Kevin Smith. He has appeared in all of Smith's productions (usually as Jay) and has appeared without Smith in a variety of other roles, often being portrayed as an archetypal dim-witted drug abuser.

Jason is one of several patrons at the Bear Tavern located on a desert road leading to an unspecified town. The bar is attacked by a group of ferocious creatures intent on killing and devouring everyone inside. Early on in the film, two people are killed and one of the monsters gets inside the tavern. Jason is the third character to die when the creature attacks him and suddenly rips off his face. He staggers about in shock for several seconds before falling dead to the floor.
