Jazz (voiced by Darius McCrary) is a supporting character in Michael Bay's Transformers. He is a member of the Autobots and first lieutenant to Optimus Prime. He has a rather upbeat attitude and it shows in his frequent use of American slang when talking to his fellow Autobots.
Jazz, along with Prime, Ratchet and Ironhide, crashed onto Earth in response to Bumblebee's summons after he had made contact with Sam Witwicky. He crashed into Dodger Stadium and scanned his Pontiac alt form at a dealership. Together, the Autobots and their human friend attempted to acquire the Allspark, an ancient Cybertronian relic that was responsible for giving Transformers life. However, Sam and his crush Mikaela were taken into custody by Sector 7, a secret government organisation responding to potential alien threats. The Autobots followed Sector 7's agents to Hoover Dam where they discovered that the Allspark was being held there along with the frozen body of the Decepticon leader Megatron. Thanks to Frenzy who disabled the cooling system, the Decepticons soon came to the dam as well and attacked. As Megatron was now awake and loose, the Autobots and the humans were forced to move the cube to Mission City.

Jazz was the only Autobot to die in the film. During the battle in Mission City, he was the first to attack when Megatron descended sensing the Allspark. He attempted to shoot Megatron but the bullets did nothing to him, and Megatron took Jazz to the top of a tower to put him out of his misery. Jazz attempted to shoot Megatron and even taunted him, but neither could stop the tyrant and he tore Jazz into two halves with ease.
