Jesse was a minor character from Season 11 of The Walking Dead. Appearing in the episode "Warlords", he was a young resident of the Commonwealth who joined up with Aaron and Gabriel Stokes on a mission to recruit survivors from a community called Riverbend.
History[]
During the episode "Warlords", Toby Carlson, Gabriel Stokes, Aaron and Jesse arrived at Riverbend to discuss allowing its residents into the Commonwealth. What Gabriel, Aaron and Jesse weren't aware of, however, was that Carlson had been tasked by Lance Hornsby to retrieve a shipment of weapons that Riverbend had supposedly stolen and to eliminate the residents if they did not cooperate. When the group arrived at Riverbend, they surrendered their weapons before meeting with Ian, the leader of the community. Aaron spoke with Ian and explained the Commonwealth to him, but Ian wasn't convinced of the group's good faith. Jesse became especially nervous when Ian showed the group his collection of human skulls from raiders he had previously killed.
As Aaron tried to convince Ian that they meant well, Carlson snatched Ian's gun from its holster and shot him in the shoulder before shooting his guards. Realizing Carlson's true intentions, Jesse attempted to flee. While unhitching his horse, he was met by Negan and Annie. After telling them what had happened at Riverbend, he received a map from Negan that would lead him to Hilltop and was told to warn Maggie that her friends were in danger.
Death[]
As Jesse attempted to flee on horseback, one of Carlson's soldiers shot him in the back. Jesse survived the initial shot, but was bleeding profusely. As he neared Hilltop, he fell off his horse. Elijah and Maggie came over to him and he gave Maggie Negan's message before dying of blood loss. While not shown on-screen, it can be assumed that Jesse was stabbed in the brain to prevent his reanimation.
