"John Mackenzie" was a minor character in the seventh season of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. He was a Chronicom who had assumed the identity of the real John Mackenzie, whom he had killed in order to wear his skin.
History[]
In a timeline where the Chronicoms had altered Earth's history in order to destroy S.H.I.E.L.D., John and Lilla Mackenzie - the parents of Alphonso Mackenzie - had been abducted by the Chronicoms and later killed, then replaced with Chronicom Hunters wearing their skins. This was part of a plan to infiltrate S.H.I.E.L.D. in the event that they disrupted their plans to launch HYDRA's Project Insight satellite.
When S.H.I.E.L.D. invaded the Lighthouse in 1976, they succeeded in destroying the Insight satellite before it reached orbit. During the operation, Director Alphonso "Mack" Mackenzie discovered that his parents were being held prisoner in the Lighthouse. He and Elena "Yo-Yo" Rodriguez were able to find and free them, unaware that they were actually Chronicom infiltrators.
During the group's escape, they were barred by a sealed bulkhead. "John" used his engineering knowledge to try and break the hydraulic lock on the door, though injured his arm in the process. He claimed that the wound was light and kept it hidden from the others. After bypassing the lock, the escapees made it to the Quinjet and left the Lighthouse.
Death[]
While on board the Quinjet, "John" marveled at the technology behind the Quinjet. As he was doing so, he touched Melinda May, who was piloting the craft. At this time, May possessed an ability to read the emotions of those she had been in contact with, but she didn't feel anything from "John" when he touched her. After setting the Quinjet's auto-pilot to circle, she warned Mack that his "parents" were not who they appeared to be.
Mack asked to look at "John's" wounded arm, but "John" hesitated. When Mack insisted, "John" then revealed his arm, a patch of skin torn away to reveal a metallic endoskeleton beneath. With their ruse discovered, "John" and "Lilla" attacked the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, with "John" gleefully admitting that Mack's real parents were dead. Hesitant to fight against what appeared to be his father, Mack was overpowered by "John" and pinned to the deck, but Yo-Yo grabbed the Chronicom and disabled him by twisting and breaking his neck. May then opened the Quinjet's rear hatch and "John's" body was thrown out.
