Jonathan Kent is a minor character in the DC animated film Injustice. He is voiced by Kevin Pollak.

History[]

After Superman is tricked by the Joker into killing his wife Lois and destroying Metropolis, the Man of Steel sets down a path of tyranny as he vows to keep the people of Earth safe by forcefully ending all violent conflict, destroying the world's military forces and killing its most dangerous criminals. Disturbed by Superman's interference with the United States' military operations, the President contracts the villainous Mirror Master to abduct Kal-El's adoptive father to hold him as leverage. In the middle of the night, Mirror Master and a Secret Service unit break onto the Kent Farm in Smallville and kidnap Jonathan.

Superman inevitably finds out about his father's disappearance and is approached by Mirror Master, who threatens to send Jonathan back to him in pieces unless the fallen hero stops meddling in the US Government's affairs. Wonder Woman and Cyborg later track down Mirror Master and take his belt, using it to find out where the villain had stashed Pa Kent. Superman uses Mirror Master's belt to find Jonathan, who is being held within Salar de Uyuni over in Bolivia. After freeing his father from Special Forces, Superman takes him to the Fortress of Solitude.

Death[]

Batman, Green Arrow, Catwoman, Captain Atom, Huntress and Harley Quinn later break into the Fortress of Solitude in order to acquire a red sun cannon capable of depowering Superman. Inside, they find Jonathan alive and well. Batman decides to cancel the mission since Superman, who isn't thinking clearly, will most likely believe that the group are trying to kidnap Jonathan. Before the team can leave, Superman arrives and quickly defeats Captain Atom before confronting the others. However, the Man of Steel suddenly keels over as the microscopic Atom enters the Kryptonian's brain with a sample of kryptonite.

As Green Arrow and Huntress make a move to claim the red sun cannon, the weapon is destroyed by Ra's al Ghul and his League of Assassins. Ra's then saves Superman by placing a mask over his mouth and introducing a chemotherapeutic gas that destroys the Atom and the kryptonite shard. Batman's group then fight off Ra's agents before Green Arrow takes a shot at Superman with a kryptonite arrow. Superman easily slaps the incoming projectile away, but accidentally causes the arrow to strike Jonathan in the chest. After seeing what has happened to his father, Superman reacts by killing Green Arrow with his heat vision.

Batman and the rest of his team escape as Superman attends to his dying father. With his last words, Jonathan tells Clark that it was an accident and that he should forgive them rather than seek revenge. He then dies in Clark's arms. However, Ra's tells Superman that his former allies do not deserve forgiveness and offers his help to the Man of Steel in establishing his new world order.
