Kano is the primary antagonist of Mortal Kombat Legends: Snow Blind. In an alternate timeline, the notorious Black Dragon thug had fought and defeated the Keeper of Time, Kronika. In doing so, he gained access to Kronika's Hourglass, granting him the power to manipulate time according to his will. With this power, Kano has turned Earthrealm into a desolate wasteland where he and his Black Dragon clan prey upon surviving communities and dominate them through intimidation and extreme violence.
This incarnation of Kano (voiced by David Wrexham) has undergone extensive cybernetic modification. Whereas his previous incarnations have only sported a bionic eye, this version has had much of his body replaced with machinery.
History[]
Since gaining control of Kronika's hourglass, Kano has altered the timeline on several occasions, turning Earthrealm into a desolate hellscape that suffers under his iron-fisted rule. He has reset the timeline so many times largely due to boredom, though on some occasions due to being nearly defeated by his enemies, whoever they may be in a given timeline.
In the latest timeline, Kano rules over the Wastelands by plundering whatever resources he can from the small communities that have managed to survive the revenant apocalypse. One of his closest servants is the Outworld sorcerer Shang Tsung, who has been reduced to a withered shell of a man after years of being soul-starved and losing most of his magical power. After learning of the existence of a hidden village, Kano sends Shang Tsung to follow his enforcers back there and ensure they don't destroy the place.
When visiting the village, Tsung meets Kenshi Takahashi, a brash young warrior who gets beaten by the terramancer Tremor. The withered old man tells Kenshi about a magical sword said to be hidden somewhere in the desert and leads the young man to it. However, this is all merely a ruse so that Shang Tsung can open the Well of Souls where the sword is contained. After tricking Kenshi into opening the well, Tsung devours the souls contained within, restoring his youth and his magical power. He then leaves Kenshi for dead and returns to K-Town.
When Shang Tsung returns to K-Town, Kano seems less than surprised. The revitalized sorcerer attacks him and attempts to consume his soul, but it turns out that Kano no longer has a soul to take and he catches Tsung off-guard, killing him in a horrific fashion.
Later, Kano leads the Black Dragon in a raid on the village hidden between the dunes, killing several people before forcing the rest to submit to him. As the Black Dragon enjoy their latest conquest, Kenshi arrives with Sento in hand, killing many of Kano's thugs. Despite the blind swordsman's impressive skill, he is still defeated and captured. Kano decides to take the swordsman back to K-Town and give him a public execution, but before the execution can proceed, K-Town is invaded by Kenshi's tutor, the former Lin Kuei warrior Kuai Liang, along with the spectral ninja Scorpion. The duo free Kenshi and slaughter most of the Black Dragon thugs while Kano retreats into his lair.
Death[]
Kano falls back to the secret chamber in his lair which contains Kronika's Hourglass. Kuai follows after him and is stunned by what he sees. Kano explains how he had made the world into the hell it has become by bringing the revenants to Earthrealm to make the population afraid, all so that he could control them. He then uses the Hourglass to try and erase Kuai from existence, but the elderly Lin Kuei fires an ice blast at the cyborg, breaking his concentration and his contact with the Hourglass, thus saving himself from erasure. In the violent battle that follows, Kano severs Kuai's arm, though Kuai does the same to Kano and rips out his bionic eye before wounding his leg and throwing him into the undulating gears within the chamber. Unable to move, Kano is gruesomely crushed between the gears and killed.
