Kris Fowles (portrayed by Katie Cassidy) is a supporting character in the 2010 remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street. Initially, she appears to be the main protagonist of the film, but gets killed by Freddy Krueger just under 30 minutes into the film, after which the film focuses on the true protagonist Nancy Holbrook. She is the second character to die in the film.

Biography[]

At the beginning of the film, Kris is asked by her friend Dean Russell to meet him at the Springwood Diner so he can tell her about his nightmares. Not long after meeting him there, Kris watches in horror as Dean apparently commits suicide by cutting his throat with a steak knife. After Dean's funeral, Kris has trouble sleeping herself and has terrible nightmares. In these dreams, she is stalked by a man with a burnt face who wears a set of knives on his fingers.

Two nights after Dean's death, Kris' mother leaves town on a flight to London. With her mother away, Kris invites her ex-boyfriend Jesse Braun over and tells him about her nightmares. She is shocked when Jesse reveals that he's been having similar dreams himself. The two agree to spend the night together, thinking they will sleep easier that way, but it makes no difference in the end.

A Nightmare On Elm Street 2010- Kris' Death

Kris' death pays homage to the character of Tina Gray from the original Nightmare on Elm Street as they both die in the same way. When Kris and Jesse fall asleep, Kris has another nightmare and is attacked by Freddy. Her screams wake Jesse up and he watches in horror and disbelief as Kris levitates off the bed and is flung through the air into the walls like a rag doll. Finally, Freddy kills Kris by slashing her across the torso with his blades.
