Kuato is a minor character from the 1990 sci-fi movie Total Recall. He is a mutant human who resembles a deformed infant, fused to the stomach of his conjoined twin, George. Both characters are portrayed by Marshall Bell.
Kuato is a psychic mutant who leads the Resistance against Vilos Cohaagen, the ruthless and corrupt governor of the Mars Colony. His goal is to overthrow Cohaagen and activate an ancient alien device that was discovered in the mines beneath the colony. The machine is an atmospheric engine that will melt the vast ice deposits at Mars' core, releasing enough oxygen to purify the toxic atmosphere and make it breathable, ending Cohaagen's monopoly on the colony's limited air supply.
After Douglas Quaid is liberated from captivity by the Resistance, he is taken to their hideout to meet with Kuato. George meets with Quaid and, after some persuasion from Melina, decides to introduce him to Kuato. He opens his shirt, revealing the diminutive mutant fused to his torso. Using his psychic powers, Kuato gleans the atmospheric reactor's location from Quaid's mind. However, the hideout is then attacked by Cohaagen's soldiers.
Quaid, Melina, George and Benny flee from the hideout as boring machines crash through the walls. They enter an airlock and are about to don life-suits so they can go outside, but then Benny draws a machine gun and shoots George, killing him and Kuato.
