Luke Garrett is a minor supporting character from Season 2 of Gotham. A young rookie police officer fresh out of the Academy, he was employed by Nathaniel Barnes as a member of the new Gotham Police Strike Force. He was portrayed by Lenny Platt.

History[]

First appearing in the episode "Strike Force", Garrett wanted to join the police force after armed thugs destroyed his father's business when he refused to pay protection money. He and other hopeful recruits - Josie Mac, Sal Martinez and Carl Pinkney - were interviewed by the GCPD's new captain Nathaniel Barnes who took them on as members of his new Strike Force. Not long after being formed, the Strike Force members saw action when they were called out to stop hitman Victor Zsasz from assassinating a Gotham City councilman. Unit Alpha succeeded in saving the councilman, but Zsasz managed to escape. After this incident, Barnes informed the Strike Force that they were building a case against the Penguin.

Death[]

In the episode "Scarification", the GCPD confronted a group of arsonists known as the Pike family. The Pike brothers had pressed their stepsister Bridgit into their service following the death of their youngest brother Evan, equipping her with a fireproof suit and flamethrower to burn down the Gotham Book Depository. When the cops confronted Bridgit, Garrett came at her from behind and tried to restrain her. As they struggled, the tubes on Bridgit's fuel canister came loose, spraying Garrett with accelerant. Bridgit accidentally discharged her flamethrower and Garrett was set on fire. Although Gordon was able to put him out, Garrett was rushed to hospital with severe burns and died as a result.
