Mailer (portrayed by Marvin Campbell) is a character from 28 Days Later. He was formerly a private serving in Major Henry West's army platoon helping to manage the Rage outbreak in Manchester. After their blockade was overrun, the soldiers fell back to Worsley House where they fortified their position, believing that society was coming to an end. Major West tried to maintain his men's morale by promising to rescue female survivors and force them into sexual servitude.
On the twenty-ninth day of the outbreak, Mailer became infected with the Rage virus. Before he could harm anyone, West knocked Mailer out and had him chained up in the yard so that he could learn how long it would take for the Infected to starve to death.
Two days later, survivors Jim, Selena and Hannah were brought to Worsley House and Major West showed Mailer to Jim. The following night, after having escaped an execution in the woods, Jim returned to the mansion with a rifle he had taken from Jones and used it to shoot off Mailer's chain, freeing him. Mailer broke into the house, attacking and infecting Clifton and the two maddened soldiers rampaged through the halls hunting down their former comrades.
Major West would be the last soldier standing and he attempted to kill Jim, Selena and Hannah when they tried to flee in Frank's taxi. However, Mailer followed them outside and attacked the Major, dragging him out of the cab and beating him to death. Taking the opportunity, the girls fled with a wounded Jim and Mailer screamed into the night as the taxi disappeared into the distance.
Fate[]
Mailer's ultimate fate is unclear, but it is most likely that he would have starved to death along with the rest of the Infected population of Britain.
