Mitchell (portrayed by Ricci Harnett) was the third-in-command of Major Henry West's platoon in 28 Days Later. A vulgar and sadistic individual, he displayed clear signs of sociopathic behaviour. When Major West promised to offer his men any rescued women up as sexual slaves, Mitchell fully supported the idea, not so much out of duty to repopulating the world but to satisfy his own desires.
History[]
After West's platoon found survivors Jim, Selena and Hannah at the Forty-Second Blockade, they offered them refuge at the fortified Worsley House. During that time, Mitchell attempted to force himself on Selena and became violent when Jim stepped in to Selena's defence. It became clear that Jim was going to oppose the soldiers' attempts to rape the girls and so he was taken out into the woods to be executed. Mitchell then locked up the girls and he and the other soldiers attempted to take advantage of them.
Death[]
When Jim escaped his execution, he returned to Worsley House and released the infected Mailer from the yard, allowing the enraged soldier to run wild inside the mansion. The soldiers mobilised to try and put down Mailer as well as Jim, but their efforts proved futile. Mitchell remained with Selena and Hannah, but Jim eventually came for him, dropping through a hole in the ceiling and savagely attacking him. After beating Mitchell's head repeatedly against the wall, Jim pinned the sadistic soldier to the floor and gouged his eyes out with his thumbs.
