Murray Franklin is one of the three secondary antagonists (alongside Thomas Wayne and Randall) of the 2019 film Joker.
He is a talk show host who invites the titular character onto his show after playing clips of his stand-up show on a preceding episode, which Arthur Fleck (The Joker) misinterprets as Murray laughing at him.
He was portrayed by Robert de Niro.
Death[]
After Murray talks to Arthur about his attire, career, etc. Arthur tells an inappropriate joke which fuels an argument about society that leads to Joker admitting to killing three Wall Street employees. Further conflict ensues before Joker, out of his insanity, pulls out his Model 36 and shoots Murray in the face. Seconds later, Joker (well into his insanity now) shoots Murray again before he is eventually seized by police.
