Quentin Beck - also known as Mysterio - is a villainous character from Marvel Comics, best known as one of Spider-Man's recurring enemies. Highly skilled in the arts of stagecraft and special effects, he uses these talents to carry out elaborate crimes. While he dresses as a mysterious sorcerer out of a fantasy film, he has no superpowers; he relies on hallucinogenic agents and holographic technology to create spectacular illusions to misdirect and fool others. Spider-Man is usually able to see through such tricks thanks to his spider-sense, although Mysterio has developed other methods to confound the web-slinger over the years.
