Nathoo is a character in Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book.
History[]
Nathoo is first seen leading a tour through the jungle. Sometime after that, He is seen giving a flower to a woman. After his son Mowgli mimics his actions, he hears a gunshot and a tiger roar. After he sees Buldeo and two other soldiers returning, he asks what happened. Soon he tells everyone the three were doing some senseless killing and Shere Khan is not thrilled. However Buldeo says it was just a few animals. Nathoo then says that they wouldn't like it if anyone did the same thing they did and warns everyone Shere Khan will be stalking them.
Later that night, He and Mowgli are discussing animals and what they mean. Soon he becomes amazed at the little boy's knowledge about the animals. Soon he points to a tiger and Mowgli says he is also a tiger. This interests Nathoo and he asks where he got the idea. Mowgli answers that he got in a dream and he is intrigued.
Death[]
After some time passes, Shere Khan attacks the camp and kills a sentry and Sergeant Claiborne. Nathoo leaves his tent to investigate and sees the tiger is attacking. He soon tells Mowgli to stay put. Soon he arrives and defends Buldeo and tells him to shoot the tiger only for him to flee and soon he tries to scare the tiger. However, the tiger pounces on him and after a bit, Dr. Plumford reveals the bad news.
