Nick O'Bannon is the main protagonist of the horror film, The Final Destination. He was a college student from the town of McKinley, Pennsylvania and envisioned the disaster at the McKinley Speedway in 2009. After surviving the incident, Nick and his friends found themselves being stalked by Death itself as they each died off in a series of bizarre accidents. He is the tenth survivor of the speedway disaster to die and the last character to die in the film.
History[]
Nick lived in McKinley, Pennsylvania, with his girlfriend Lori Milligan. He was also good friends with Hunt Wynorski and Janet Cunningham and they all attended the same college together.
In 2009, Nick and his friends visited the McKinley Speedway for a study break. While watching the race, Nick experienced a premonition that a car crash would cause the speedway to collapse on the guests. Upon snapping back to reality, he panicked and a fight broke out between him and several other spectators, who followed him out of the stadium moments before the accident occurred. Once outside, the group witnessed Nadia Monroy's death.
Sometime later, Nick, Lori, Hunt and Janet visited the Death by Caffeine coffee shop where they discussed what happened. After learning that a memorial was to be held at the McKinley Speedway the next day, Nick and Lori decided to go to pay their respects to the victims. There they met the security guard George Lanter, and were also confronted by Carter, who blamed George for the death of his wife Cynthia. That night, as Nick and Lori slept, Nick had a nightmare involving George's house, a cross, a horseshoe, and a fiery chained hook.
The next day, Nick and Lori learned of Carter's death via a news report and Nick noticed the same signs from his vision he had the night before. He then experienced another vision of someone dying from a stone. After Samantha Lane's death, Nick and Lori try to explain to Hunt and Janet that Death is still after the survivors, but they don't believe them.
Nick and Lori go back to the speedway so Nick could remember what order the survivors died in, but they are caught by George. After explaining what was going on to George, he showed them security footage of the accident, which helped Nick remember, and he deduced that Andy Kewzer was next. They visited the mechanic shop that Andy worked at to warn him, but he ended up being killed moments later in a freak accident. The trio split up to save Janet and Hunt. Lori and George raced to a car wash and saved Janet from being killed, but Nick arrived too late to save Hunt from being disemboweled by a pool drain.
Later on, Nick and Lori visited George and found him trying to commit suicide. After he explained his many failed suicide attempts, they believed that saving Janet ruined Death's plan.
Days later, Nick was preparing for a vacation, after Lori and Janet go to the mall cinema. As Nick was packing his stuff, he saw a news report which revealed that another survivor named Jonathan Groves was rescued from the speedway, and realized that the reason George couldn't kill himself was because he wasn't next on Death's list. He and George rushed to the hospital, but they arrived too late and Groves was crushed by an overfilled bathtub that fell through the ceiling.
As they left, George was hit by a speeding ambulance. Nick rushed to the mall to save Lori and Janet, but Janet refused to come with him, and was impaled by shrapnel when the screen exploded. As Nick and Lori attempted to escape, Lori was pulled into a malfunctioning escalator's gears. Nick realized that this was just another vision, but was unable to save George. Nick rushed to a theater that was under construction, which was where the explosion started and attempted to put out the fire before the explosion occurred. He put out the fire, but the ashes flew through the air and started another fire. A nail gun then fell off a table and shot several nails into Nick's right arm. He tried to free himself, but to no avail. The trail of fire almost led to a tank of combustible fluids, but Nick used a long piece of wood with fire on it to set off the sprinklers and put out the fire.
Death[]
Two weeks later, Nick, Lori, and Janet visited Death by Caffeine, and Nick saw several more omens foreshadowing their deaths. He realized that everything they had been through was just a feint meant to lead them to where they needed to be for Death to strike. As he relayed this information to Lori and Janet, the scaffolding next to the coffee shop fell over and landed in the middle of the road. A truck swerved to avoid hitting it and crashed right into the coffee shop, running over Nick, Lori, and Janet and finally killing all three of them.
Nick's, Lori's and Janet's deaths are viewed in x-ray format. When Nick is hit with the side of the truck, he is launched into the wall, which cracks his skull, and dislocates his jaw. When his body falls to the floor, blood flows out of his mouth, and his teeth fall out.
