Nuka is a supporting antagonist from the direct-to-video Disney feature The Lion King II: Simba's Pride. He is a black-maned lion and the eldest son of Zira. He is voiced by Andy Dick.
History[]
Nuka and his family were banished from the Pridelands for supporting Scar's rule. Forced into the mostly-barren Outlands, they struggled to survive whilst plotting their revenge against Simba. Nuka himself regularly went hungry as he was a poor hunter, usually only eating insects for nourishment as his mother Zira would save the best meats for herself and her favourite son Kovu. Kovu was regarded as the "chosen one" of the Outsiders who was destined to avenge Scar and become king of the Pridelands, for which Nuka resents him.
When Kovu grows up, Zira puts a plan in motion to have Kovu infiltrate Pride Rock. During Kiara's first hunt, Nuka and his sister Vitani start a wildfire which Kovu is to rescue Kiara from in order to gain Simba's trust. The plan appears to work as Kovu is allowed into Pride Rock, but Kovu has second thoughts about the plan. Nuka and Vitani watch Kovu from afar and are outraged when Kovu doesn't take the opportunity to kill Kiara or Simba.
Death[]
The Outsiders later ambush Simba and Kovu in a dry ravine. Eager to gain his mother's favour, Nuka takes the initiative and attacks Simba. Simba flees by climbing over a log dam and Nuka climbs after him, but Simba loosens some of the logs which fall and crush Nuka. Zira digs Nuka out of the pile of logs, but Nuka succumbs to his injury and dies. Ironically, it is only in his death that Nuka finally gains the attention he craves from his mother.
