Peter Friedkin was a main character and antagonist in the 2011 horror film Final Destination 5. He was the assistant manager of Presage Paper and was a survivor of the 1999 North Bay Bridge disaster.
History[]
On April 26th 1999, Peter was among several Presage employees on their way to a corporate retreat. When their coach bus approached the North Bay Bridge, Peter's friend and colleague Sam Lawton experienced a premonition of the bridge collapsing, resulting in massive loss of life. When Sam panicked, Peter and several others followed him off the bus. Shortly after, the bridge collapsed just as Sam had foreseen, resulting in the deaths of 86 people, including the 17 Presage employees who had remained on the bus.
Following the disaster, Peter and the other survivors attended a memorial service for their deceased colleagues. During this time, Peter crossed paths with the coroner William Bludworth, who enigmatically stated that Death didn't like to be cheated, though Peter paid him no mind.
The next day, Peter went with his girlfriend Candice Hooper to her gymnastics practice, offering her emotional support. However, an accident resulted in Candice fumbling a landing and dying by breaking her spine. The day after Candice's death, Peter returned to work as a means of coping with his loss. With the sales office mostly empty due to the loss of most of the staff in the bridge collapse, Peter and the others had little to do and decided to share a drink together. Later, they discovered that Isaac Palmer had died in a freak accident at the Ming Yung Spa and rushed over there. They encountered Bludworth once again, who was wheeling out Isaac's corpse. Bludworth explained to them that Death was coming for the survivors of the bridge collapse, and that if they wanted to cheat Death again, they would have to take the life of someone who wasn't meant to die on the bridge.
After Nathan Sears accidentally killed his co-worker Roy Carson in a warehouse accident, Peter, Molly, and Sam arrived. Peter deduced that he must have claimed Roy's remaining lifespan shortly before witnessing Dennis's death. Peter grew jealous that Molly was meant to survive the initial bridge collapse contrary to the rest of the group (especially Candice). Deciding that Molly didn't deserve to live more than the rest of the group, he planned to murder her and take her remaining lifespan.
Death[]
While Sam and Molly were on a date after having privately booked the restaurant that Sam was working at, Peter arrived at the door. With everything that had recently happened, the couple let Peter in and they sat down and talked with him. Peter then expressed his bitterness towards Molly for her survival over the rest of their friends before drawing a gun and attempting to kill her.
Sam and Molly fled into the restaurant kitchen and Molly used her cellphone to call Jim Block, the FBI agent who had been investigating the bridge collapse. Block soon arrived at the restaurant, but was shot dead by Peter. Peter was sure that killing Block would grant him the agent's remaining lifespan, although he wasn't about to spend the time he'd earned in jail and continued to pursue Molly to eliminate the one witness to his crime. As Peter had cornered Molly, however, Sam ambushed him from behind and impaled him with a meat skewer he had taken from the rotisserie oven. By killing Peter, Sam believed he had gained the lifespan Peter had taken from Block.
