Philip is the stepfather of Shaun in the British zom-rom-com Shaun of the Dead. He is portrayed by Bill Nighy.
History[]
Philip married Shaun's mother Barbara when Shaun was 12 and since then Shaun and Philip have never gotten along. Their relationship has always been strained and Shaun views Philip as arrogant and condescending.
When the zombie outbreak occurs, Shaun tries phoning his mother to see if she is alright. Barbara mentions that Philip was bitten, but Shaun doesn't show the slightest concern for his stepfather's well-being and immediately assumes that he will have to kill Philip when he goes to rescue his mum.
Not Quite Dead...[]
As Shaun and the group make their getaway from Barbara's house, Philip is bitten again, this time on the neck. As he bleeds out, he attempts to reconcile with Shaun, explaining why he wasn't as kind as he could have been but saying that he stilled loved Shaun and wanted him to grow up to be a worthwhile man. He tells Shaun to take care of Barbara before he finally passes out.
As Shaun and the others bicker over disposing of Philip, Philip reanimates as a zombie and lunges at Shaun. The group scramble out of the car and lock Philip inside. This is the last that is seen of him and his fate from then onward is unknown.
