Their battle takes them into the city's main power plant and into a ray-shielded corridor, where Obi-Wan and Qui-Gonn are seperated. Qui-Gonn and Darth Maul continue to fight while Obi-Wan is still blocked off by ray-shields, but Maul gains the upper hand and impales Qui-Gonn through the chest with his lightsaber. Qui-Gonn is still barely alive when Obi-Wan later defeats Darth Maul; he is cradled in his apprentice's arms and pleads Obi-Wan to train Anakin with his last breath. After his death, Qui-Gon's body is burned on a ceremonial funeral pyre, as is traditional for Jedi. |
