Rodney (portrayed by Joe Ando Hirsh) is a minor character from The Walking Dead. Appearing during Season 9, he was a young man who grew up during the undead apocalypse, barely remembering anything of the world before. He was one of the teenage residents of Hilltop Colony along with Addy and Gage.

In the episode "Evolution", Rodney and his friends greeted Henry when he came to the Hilltop to study blacksmithing under Earl Sutton. During this time, they showed Henry what they did for fun at Hilltop, including bringing him to their secret hiding spot where they drank moonshine. They also took Henry out into the woods where they showed him a pit with a lone zombie trapped inside. Rodney displayed his immaturity by urinating over the zombie while his friends laughed and threw rope rings at it, but Henry jumped into the pit and put the walker down, much to the annoyance of the others.

While he could be immature, Rodney was not entirely incompetent or irresponsible. In the episode "Chokepoint", he was part of a group trying to keep the roads clear for the Kingdom's upcoming trade fair and helped the team in eliminating several zombies while others worked at removing a fallen tree.

Death[]

In the episode "The Calm Before", Rodney was one of eleven people who were abducted by the Whisperers during the Kingdom's trade fair. He and the other captives were held inside a stable where they were to be executed, but the captives fought back against the aggressors. However, Alpha would arrive with reinforcements, leading to the slaughter of most of the group with only Siddiq being left alive as a witness. The ten victims of the massacre would be decapitated and their heads planted on pikes which Alpha would use to mark the border between the Whisperers' and Coalition's territories.

The next day, Daryl Dixon, Michonne Hawthorne, Carol Peletier and Yumiko were released from the Whisperers' camp after being captured the night before. They found Siddiq not far from the newly-established border. The group were shocked and heartbroken to witness the reanimated heads of ten of their friends and family members planted upon the hill as a grim marker. After putting down the zombified heads, the group returned to the Kingdom and Siddiq told everyone what had happened, remarking how the victims of the massacre had all fought valiantly for one another until the very end and that they should be remembered as heroes.
